DUBAI (Reuters) - A militant group said it beheaded a man it called a senior member of Iraq (news - web sites)'s armed forces and posted a video of the killing on its Web site on Wednesday.

The Army of Ansar al-Sunna said it had abducted Major Hussein Shunun in Mosul and that he had helped U.S. forces in operations against insurgents in the northern Iraqi city.

The video showed the hostage seated blindfolded and gagged in front of three masked men. He was rocking back and forth in apparent fear as one of the militants read out a statement, before they sawed off the hostage's head with a large knife.

"This officer and his soldiers, under the orders of their American masters, participated in several operations against the mujahideen (holy fighters) in Mosul ... and this will be the fate of all those who support the occupying crusader forces," the group said in a statement dated Nov. 3
