Kerry is slated over Bin Laden poll
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/articles/14404155?source=Evening%20Standard

"Kerry was hit by an eve-of-election row today when it emerged his team took an opinion poll on the Osama bin Laden terror tape.

"It's as though he doesn't know what he believes until he check the polls," claimed vice president Dick Cheney.

"I don't think that's a man who is up to the task of being commander in chief. George Bush doesn't need a poll to know what he believes, especially about Osama bin Laden."

Mr Kerry's aides initially accused the Republicans of doing the same but this was flatly denied. Later, they said the poll was actually conducted by an unregistered support group, the Democracy Corps, but this was undermined by a disclosure that one of the Democrat's most senior advisers, Joe Lockhart, was involved in briefing journalists about the findings."

1. Chavez might speak the truth, but this Brit story is garbage
Off hand I'd guess this media source is owned by Murdoch.

I had a guy on the job quote the NY Post about Kerry and he was practically laughed out of the room. Of course, we're all construction workers, so what do we know?

2. So let me get this straight...
...an unanticipated event central to the campaign happens 4 days before the election, and they're supposed to ignore its impact?

I can't wait to get rid of the bullshit grandstanding of this crew.

7. Yep, you're supposed to ignore it completely like Shrubco did and hope
no one notices. I've seen a couple of stories today, think one was at Salon, about how neither party is willing to touch this so late in the game.

Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 03:58 PM by rocknation
Well, that explains why he ignored the August 6 warning, read My Pet Goat and hasn't caught him yet!

5. Kerry did make a mistake
He did the PC thing and restrained himself from acknowledging the Bin Laden tape in any serious way in order to avoid having to confront a partisan accusation that he was politicizing the event, BUT

he should have anyway, and finished by saying , "and we wouldn't even be HAVING this conversation if George Bush had done his job before September 11th, on September 11th and at any time in the past four years."
