SAS WRITE APOLOGY AFTER IRAQ RAID FIASCO
BUNGLING SAS soldiers beat 11 innocent Iraqis they falsely suspected of being involved in the execution of six Red Caps, it is claimed.

Army chiefs offered their "humblest apologies" for the fiasco in an unprecedented open letter to the tinderbox town of Majar al Kabir, pledging a full investigation and compensation for injuries and wrongful arrest.

The squad are accused of kicking victims in the face and hitting them over the head with rifle butts. Butcher Basim Hasan said: "My face hit the ground so hard I lost consciousness." A woman was among the injured.

1. If our army did this, there would be NO apologies.
Bank on it.

At least the Brits are civilized enough to recognize when some of their own have become brutalized, and to discipline them for it.

I have yet to read of a US GI or commanding officer being disciplined for the storm trooper tactics we're employing among Iraqi civilians.

It's Vietnam all freaking over again. They think hearts and minds can only be won when you get them by the balls.

4. Peacekeepers !!Dammit !!!
We need peacekeepers, not storm troopers. WTF do we think we are accomplishing with actions like these. These soldiers would not have been this agressive if they had not been trained and ordered to do it. Coalition out and UN in. The only way to save Iraq, it's people, and the world from a whole, freekin, gigantic army of new terrorists. I keep remembering some ones definition of "terrorist". They said it is the poor mans army and that is what it is.

:argh:

2. How do you say "My Lai" in Farsi?
If it hasn't happened yet, it's almost a sure thing that it soon will, the massacre of civilians suspected of harboring terrorists. And we'll all be oh so shocked that some of our star spangled freckle faced red white and true blue boys in uniform could have done such a thing. Must have been some of the bad uns that snuck in while Clinton was president.

3. oh please
the war is the biggest fuckin My Lai you ever saw. I suppose it is like theft. The bigger they are, the easier to get away with the crime.
