Bush and Kerry Locked in Dead Heat - Reuters Poll(Zogby)
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 06:25 AM by Champ
By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) moved into a dead heat with President Bush (news - web sites) four days before a cliffhanger White House election, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Friday.

Bush and Kerry were tied at 47 percent in the latest three-day national tracking poll as the Massachusetts senator gained two points on Bush. Bush led Kerry 48-46 percent on Thursday.

The deadlock sets up a frantic race to Tuesday's finish in another tight U.S. presidential election, with neither candidate able to establish a clear advantage or break 50 percent.

"The election is four days away and we are right back where we started, in a toss-up," pollster John Zogby said. "Kerry had a good day today."

3. 47:47 leaves 6 percent "Undecided" and they break to the Challenger
That makes it 53:47 - The liberal Senator from Mass wins the popular vote!!!

How do the state numbers look?

12. Not all undecideds break for the challenger, but ...
traditionally two-thirds of them do. You've got the right idea. A tie going into the final weekend would be good for Kerry. :)

13. This is a 3-day tracking poll, I believe...
which means the full impact of the Iraqi explosive story (which many people found out about yesterday) won't make it into polling results until this weekend...just before election day.

18. Zogby said Kerry will win last night on TDS
He even mentioned the improving Kerry numbers from yesterday but Jon Stewart didn't follow up on it.
