E-Voting Struggles Weigh on Diebold Earnings

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Sagging performance and mounting legal costs in its electronic voting segment kept third-quarter earnings nearly flat at Diebold Inc., the company said Wednesday.

For the three months ending Sept. 30, the maker of automated teller machines and security equipment earned $48.3 million, or 67 cents per share, on sales of $613.4 million.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had expected earnings of 68 cents per share.

2. They seem to have forgotten, "The customer is always right!"

Perhaps if they sold a system that has the features the people want and need (Like paper ballots as a backup for audits, hint hint!) they would sell more systems. :)

It would also help if they stopped telling lies to our elections officials about their machine and software capabilities. :evilgrin:
