Bush's Approval Rating Drops Sharply
Public Increasingly Concerned About Casualties in Iraq

By Richard Morin and Claudia Deane
Washington Post Staff Writers
Friday, July 11, 2003; 6:30 PM

Public support for President Bush has dropped sharply amid growing concerns about mounting U.S. military casualties and doubts whether the war with Iraq was worth fighting, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Bush's overall job approval rating dropped to 59 percent, down nine points in the past 18 days. That decline exactly mirrored the slide in public support for Bush's handling of the situation in Iraq, which now stands at 58 percent.

2. My God!
This is amazing. Keep in mind, the ABC/Washington Post polls run very high, so he's probably in the mid-50s at best. Check out this graph too see what I mean:

25. That graph is outstanding.
You can see the spike at 9/11 then the steady decline as bush just keeps fucking it up. Then another (albeit slightly smaller) spike at the start of the Iraqi "war", and the steady decline.

Interesting to note that before 9/11 bush's support was not very high. Makes one wonder...LIHOP?

5. Check out this piece of info in the article
The poll found that the failure to locate weapons of mass destruction in Iraq has sharply divided the country. Fifty percent said Bush intentionally exaggerated evidence suggesting Iraq had such weapons, while nearly as many--46 percent--disagreed.

HALF think he intentionally exaggerated the intelligence. We're not a minority anymore, guys!

29. Yeah, it said 46% "disagreed".
So what do those 46% think, that he was just stupid, or clueless, or a bonehead? I mean he either lied or was a dupe himself - either way sucks for the Emperor. })

32. Pick up the 4% of undecided and we have a route going on
A 54% to 46% case of red ass. As this gets more legs and I am hoping that the Bev Harris voting scandal comes to light soon and Howard Dean keeps pushing the issues this will be more than a 54-46 case of the spanked red ass. I am honestly thinking a 70-30 ass whipping come election time.

Every time the numbers approach 50%, "something" seems to happen.

We're getting close to 50% again, folks.

6. If it gets much lower, planes will start flying into buildings again
At the very least, we'll get a few orange alerts and Ashcroft in a press conference describing some dire threat. No specific and always unsubstantiated facts, but dire threat nonetheless.

20. Price tag is an eye opener.
Another thing catching peoples attention is the $3,500,000,000.00 per month price tag. Why are we spending all this money when the war wasn't even necessary and them I-Raqis are shooting our boys. Whose ideas was this again ?

30. Actually, Rummy put the cost @ 3.9Billion....
...for Iraq; and another .95Billion for Afghanistan.
Lets call it an even $5Billion/month for bush/republican lies and incompetence.
The costs admitted by Rummy cover ONLY the Pentagon up front costs for the unnecessary wars.
