Uganda seeks Italy support on Sudan
By Frank Nyakairu & Agencies
August 31, 2003

KAMPALA- Uganda has asked Italy to exert pressure on Sudan to stop its alleged support to the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels.

The Vice President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, delivered the message while meeting the Italian Minister for Agriculture, Mr Alfredo Mantica on Friday.

Bukenya, now on a visit to Italy, was discussing the conflict in northern Uganda, regional security and HIV/Aids.

He said the LRA is a terrorist group that abducts and kills innocent civilians including children.
