TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Sen. John Kerry gained ground in the race for the White House during a just-completed series of campaign debates, a top official in President Bush's campaign conceded Thursday, but insisted that any advantage would prove fleeting.

"I think it was temporary," Marc Racicot, Bush's campaign chairman, told reporters on the morning after the president and Kerry collided in an intense final debate that sharpened differences over the war in Iraq, the economy, health care and abortion.

Racicot spoke as Bush and his Democratic rival set out on an 18-day campaign sprint to Election Day, concentrating their time and advertising on a dozen or so battleground states that will settle the election. The ubiquitous polls made their race a virtual dead heat.

The Democratic Party was quick to publicize what it called a debate "threepeat" for Kerry, launching two videos that mocked Bush's performance. One shows Bush talking about Osama bin Laden and telling White House reporters, "I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run," then denying during the debate that he had ever said it.

Hopefully when Bush has his morning papers read to him, he will find out EXACTLY how much the majority of Americans don't like him one tiny little bit.

2. It's only three weeks until the election
If Kerry has the advantage this close to the election, then Bush is definitely toast.

Bye-bye, Mark. I hope you can survive on unemployment.

16. What he needs is retraining! Reading, writing, adding AND subtracting!!
I'm sure that Montana has lots and lots of community colleges.

There he can get the IT training he needs to temporarily work training the people who will do the jobs of the 21st Century.

3. It's good to see the bin Laden remark is getting publicity
As soon as Bush said it, I thought, "how is he going to justify that? Everyone knows he said he didn't care where bin Laden was. Now he looks like someone who can't even remember his positions on terrorism."

6. confidence...
Unless he's expressing confidence that rove's October Surprise is going to be a doozie... It's apparent bushco can't go on merit and accomplishments... thus, it's down to trickery.

8. People joke..
but I'm noticing that many polling shifts are lasting about a month at a time in this election.

For example, Kerry had a nice polling lead from the time he named Edwards until around the end of August.

Then Bush had the lead from about early September to early October.

Now Kerry is on top with the latest shift. I hope that the pattern continues, and that with our help, he stays atop for the next 3 weeks.

9. Racicot has to put a brave face on it, that's his job. However, I know,..
...you know and he knows the only way $hrubco is getting the White House back is by stealing it. Again. The majority of the citizens of this country do not want these assholes back in power. It's just that simple. One of the ways they're trying to steal the "people's house" is by disenfranchising as many of the opposition's voters as possible. And by that I mean if your aren't a republican voter, you can bet someone is trying to manipulate the system so your vote somehow doesn't count. That is the real crying shame and outrage.

14. Right.
Who here believes he would say that if Bush had won the debates? He would be crowing about how great he did. What a sucky job that must be where you have to lie all the time.

24. This means he's counting on Sinclair to help
Our newspaper had an op/ed piece about the "cluelessness" of Americans re the election and government in general. For instance, it said 75% of Americans cannot name their Representative and the majority don't understand the division of the three branches of government. Racicot (Mr. Smug) is hoping the "propaganda" show of Sinclair may reach such people.
