GOP congressional candidate ‘threatened to shoot wife,’ engaged in ‘cruel and inhuman treatment,’ divorce court found
Filed under: General— site admin @ 10:53 am Email This
By John Byrne | RAW STORY Editor

New York Republican state senator John “Randy” Kuhl, who is vying for a spot in the U.S. House of Representatives, once brandished two shotguns and threatened to shoot his wife at a dinner party, according to divorce records acquired by RAW STORY.

Kuhl engaged in “cruel and inhuman treatment and other such conduct as may render it unsafe and improper for the plaintiff to cohabit with the defendant,” the divorce court’s finding of fact stated. According to the documents, he solicited other women, humiliated his ex-wife and refused to seek treatment for his drinking.

The formerly sealed records, which are the subject of some debate, were erroneously photocopied and released by a clerk on Sept. 9. RAW STORY acquired a copy of the records through an anonymous source. It is publishing their contents because they differ greatly from their public characterization the senator has made, and the grave nature of the charges.

edit: lol, beat me to it.

edit2: "According to the documents, he solicited other women, humiliated his ex-wife and refused to seek treatment for his drinking."

These republicans must have some very, very interesting private lives...soliciting other women, drinking, dysfunctional families, etc. Look at others such as Rush "abuse prescription drugs" Limbaugh and Jack "sex in front of an audience" Ryan. And these are just the ones we know about.

14. They get caught, and it's always the 'other guys' fault that the records
are leaked.

Don't they ever think that maybe someone with a conscience leaked the stuff? Someone who doesn't want a drunken, guy totin' sleeze in Congress? Or wherever?

10. He sounds precious!
He still found time to vote to lower the state's legal level of blood alchohol, as well!

Good luck to his Democratic opponent, Samara Barend.

12. I saw her headquarters in Corning NY this summer....
and read a little about her in the local news. She is a wonderful liberal Democrat as opposed to the repuke wife abuser and I sure hope she wins!

Go Samara! :)

11. this is not insignificant
Kuhl is running in the 29th District, which is heavily republican. I haven't seen any polling, but based on registration (which is nearly 2 to 1 Repub), he probably was expected to win in a walk. It would be great to pick up this seat...

15. Threatening to kill his wife is an asset for a republican politician.
Shows republican voters that he "knows how to keep his woman in line".

Humiliating his wife and whoring around should also make him popular with republican voters, as these actions accurately reflect genuine republican family values.
