Dallas: Democrats expose Sessions' college streaking stunt

DALLAS -- The gloves have come off in the match between U.S. Reps. Pete Sessions and Martin Frost. And every other article of clothing appears to be fair game as well.

Democrats today circulated old newspaper clippings of a 1974 college streaking stunt staged by hundreds of students at Southwest Texas State University, including an 18-year-old Pete Sessions.

Sessions, a conservative Republican who wrote a column condemning Janet Jackson's nude display during this year's Super Bowl halftime performance, apparently bared his bottom with about 300 male and female students on the streets of San Marcos during the two-night rampage.

15. Pete Sessions is too young to have been part of the truly provincial

prudish, yet bloodthirsty Bible-waving hypocrites we've seen and heard so often. Why he should get the vapors and fall apart because of Janet Jackson's moment during the Super Bowl sounds more like what we've been seeing from a lot of these creeps: a chance to unload both racial and societal hostility at the same time.

They feel bewildered by the fact they still don't have control over everything, and everyone, and they want to attack people who seem different from them.

Well, they've got a lot to choose from. Most human beings are actually quite different from them. More civilized!

Frost denies he's behind the latest political zinger

DALLAS - ...."Martin Frost, no doubt," said Sessions spokesman Chris Homan, referring to Sessions' Democratic opponent in the 32nd congressional district. "He picked a poor day for it considering this was the day he was to have a convicted child molester come to Dallas and help him with his fund raising. We guess he's trying to cover for that." The reference was to a scheduled appearance for Frost by Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul and Mary fame. Frost canceled the event after Sessions' campaign noted that Yarrow pleaded guilty 34 years ago to making improper sexual advances to a 14-year-old girl.

At the time, Sessions was quoted by the San Antonio News as saying, "Just taking off your clothes and running around is kind of a free spirit thing."

In addition to decrying Yarrow's appearance, Sessions has accused Frost of illegal mailings, using too-small type on campaign mailers and evading property taxes.

Frost last week conceded that he wrongly took a homestead exemption worth approximately $600 for 18 months on a condo in Dallas.He said he was sending the county a check.

Frost, meanwhile, unearthed a Dallas police report showing that Sessions was pulled over two years ago after an officer saw him pulling up his opponents' political signs along an East Dallas highway.

''A 47-year-old congressman is driving around in a pickup with a 24-year-old aide pulling up the signs of his elderly black opponent who had no chance. This is conduct unbecoming," Frost said when the report came to light.
