Air Canada Gets Ottawa Approval for Cuba Flights

MONTREAL (Reuters)

The Canadian government has given Air Canada the right to operate scheduled passenger flights to Cuba, Transport Minister David Collenette said on Friday.

The minister's office said Montreal-based Air Canada, which has been under court protection from creditors since April 1, will schedule flights from several Canadian cities -- including Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto -- to Havana, Varadero, Holguin and one other Cuban city.

But Air Canada, which already offers seasonal charter flights to Cuba, said it had not yet chosen the start date or destination cities for its scheduled service to Cuba. ---

Under and agreement between Canada and Cuba, each can authorize two airlines to operate scheduled service between the two countries. Cubana, the only designated Cuban air carrier, serves Montreal and Toronto.

Charter flight operator Air Transat, a unit of Groupe Transat A.T. Inc., is the other Canadian airline holding the right to provide scheduled air services to Cuba. ---

3. Cuba has been a destination resort for the Canadians for a long

time...the Canadians also own and operate Nickel mines in Cuba, and high class beach resorts...the Germans do too...I think everybody in the whole wide world enjoys the Cuban beaches, rum, cigars....except bush* and his moral authority johnnie asscroft...

this article is really just about airline changes, but there have been regular daily flights out of Toronto to Cuba for a long long time...

But only for Cuban "exiles" and their American kids and in-laws!! The very ones who claim they were persecuted in Cuba - go back and stay in the hotels, rent cars, go to shows and restaurants, etc.

Real Americans are told we are free and have freedom to travel, we are told racial and ethnic discrimination are not allowed in the US, but it is all a big lie!!
