Missile strike reported in Gaza - Israeli helicopter kills militant
<snip>

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip, Aug. 28 — An Israeli missile strike in the Gaza Strip killed a member of Hamas and injured at least three other Palestinians on Thursday, Palestinian officials and medical sources said, after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon promised “all necessary steps” against militants who fired homemade rockets into a large Israeli city for the first time.

WITNESSES TOLD Reuters that the helicopter fired a missile at a donkey cart in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, killing Hamdi Kabach, an operative in the Izz al-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.

Israel radio said Kabach, 23, was responsible for rocket attacks on Israel. The Israeli army had no immediate comment.

The strike was the second major operation by Sharon’s government Thursday after he ordered the Defense Ministry to do whatever was necessary to stop further attacks by militant groups.

Israel undertook the operation after four rockets landed in Israel, including one that struck near a building in the large coastal city of Ashkelon, six miles north of the Gaza boundary, the Israeli army said.

1. No, he wasn't...
More rocket attacks against militants. this won't do anything for peace, however justified they may be.

2. Good things about the Palestinian Authority are in the article
A Palestinian security official in Gaza said Palestinian forces rushed to the area where a Hamas squad fired the rocket at Ashkelon and prevented it from launching more rockets.
“There was a chase and a shootout,” the official told Reuters. “Our forces are still searching the area in the northern Gaza Strip.”

In one sign of an apparent clampdown on Hamas, the Palestinian Monetary Authority said it had frozen 39 bank accounts held by 12 Islamic charities, most of which are widely believed to be Hamas-sponsored.

What are the chances that some sort of livable agreement may come in my lifetime?
