George Soros Bankrolls Voter Hunt in Swing States
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 11:19 PM by party_line
Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- George Soros says the final straw came on June 1, 2002, when U.S. President George W. Bush stepped before 989 graduating officers at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, and changed American foreign policy. The U.S., the president said, would now take offensive military action against any country that it suspected of posing a terrorist threat, a strategy later dubbed the Bush Doctrine.

Soros, 74, says the administration has violated human rights and damaged American security by invading Iraq and deposing the regime of Saddam Hussein. ``The idea that we can impose our will on the world is really just the wrong idea,'' he says.
..........
The canvassers register voters and urge them to go to the polls on Nov. 2. The 527 has raised $80 million and is the best- funded get-out-the-vote effort in Democratic Party history. ``There's no question they've been effective,'' says Robert Bennett, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party.
............
The Republican Party and its allies are counterpunching. Richard Perle, chairman of the Pentagon's advisory Defense Policy Board from 2001 to 2003 and a proponent of the Bush Doctrine, defends the administration's Iraq offensive.

``We have eliminated one of the most vicious dictators of the past century and a continuing threat to the U.S.,'' says Perle, now a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, a Washington-based policy research group. ``I don't think George Soros brings any particular insight to the issue, and I think there is something wrong with one individual who has developed a hatred for the president and is spending millions to defeat him.''

3. Soros knows
if it walks like a Nazi and talks like a Nazi it just might be a fuckin' Nazi.

(Oh. My. I said the "N-word".)

Soros puts his money were his heart is ... at the expense of his self interest. I think that makes him an honest man.

5. Mr. Soros, please fund websites...
that need bandwidth to host things like Robert Greenwald's films, the NOW with Bill Moyers about the 9/11 Commission Report, and all manner of speeches, among other things.

October will be a time, especially after Fahrenheit 9/11 is released, when millions of Americans will be waking up and looking around for more information. Websites will be swamped with people wanting to watch such things. They're needed to counteract the conservative-biased media crapola.

Please, a rich person needs to fund this.

(Ok, I have no illusion that George Soros or anyone who knows him will read this, but I had to get it off my chest. It's like like I'd have any other chance. Where are rich Hollywood and other liberals when you really need to talk to one?)

6. Thank you George! If I had the $$, I'd have done the same!
Where did this statement by Pearl come from?

We have eliminated one of the most vicious dictators of the past century.

Did he forget Hitler, Mousilini, Ill of N. Korea, Stalin, and dozems of others?

I guess his response would be "I said one of the most" but, man, what a diversion statement! Saddam would wish he was in the history books in that group!

11. George Soros is a Pinko Commie and is Not to be Trusted
If you don't believe me, just ask a certain Mr. O'Reilly and his un-impeachable sources, which include the highly-esteemed Paris Business Review:

In some ways Soros is a snake that should be kept at arms length. Read up on this man before celebrating such patronage! The opportunistic ignorance is astounding. (subpoint: fuck O'Reilly, don't know or care what he says about him)

Bush did not *change* American foreign policy as described.. they in fact represent the logical conclusion of decades of consistant tendencies, which is why these tendencies are to be spoken honestly of, and destroyed (not carefully maintained through other means, with the use of facades and safety valves).

13. Why We Must Not Re-elect President Bush , by George Soros
Prepared text of speech delivered September 28, 2004
National Press Club
Washington, DC,

This is the most important election of my lifetime. I have never been heavily involved in partisan politics but these are not normal times. President Bush is endangering our safety, hurting our vital interests and undermining American values. That is why I am sending you this message. I have been demonized by the Bush campaign but I hope you will give me a hearing.
snip----
I grew up in Hungary, lived through fascism and the Holocaust, and then had a foretaste of communism. I learned at an early age how important it is what kind of government prevails. I chose America as my home because I value freedom and democracy, civil liberties and an open society.
snip----
When George W. Bush was elected president, and particularly after September 11, I saw that the values and principles of open society needed to be defended at home. September 11 led to a suspension of the critical process so essential to a democracy - a full and fair discussion of the issues. President Bush silenced all criticism by calling it unpatriotic. When he said that "either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists," I heard alarm bells ringing. I am afraid that he is leading us in a very dangerous direction. We are losing the values that have made America great
snip---
President Bush has used 9/11 to further his own agenda which has very little to do with fighting terrorism. There was an influential group within the Bush administration led by Vice President Dick Cheney that was itching to invade Iraq long before 9/11. The terrorist attack gave them their chance. If you need a tangible proof why President Bush does not deserve to be re-elected, consider Iraq.

I think Mr. Soros expresses very clearly what he believes about this subject, which is pretty much exactly what I think also.
