No New Trial for 'Boys Don't Cry' Killer
LINCOLN, Neb. -- A man condemned to die for the murder that inspired the movie "Boys Don't Cry" will not get a new trial or reduction of his death sentence, the Nebraska Supreme Court ruled Friday.

John Lotter's attorney argued that his client's sentence should be reduced because of a 2002 U.S. Supreme Court ruling calling for juries -- not judges -- to decide when the death penalty is warranted.

Nebraska's high court said that ruling didn't apply retroactively to Lotter, who was also convicted of killing two other people. Lotter was sentenced in 1996 by a three-judge panel rather than a jury.

2. Er, nope. We've still got it wrong.
Believe me, I'd personally like to blow this guy away, but the death penalty is just plain wrong. It's irreversible, therefore wrong. Period. End of story.

(I'm in Omaha, by the way. :hi:)

3. Let me correct myself.
I also think the death penalty is wrong. I meant convicting him. My bad. :hi:
