Kerry Says Bush `Failed' by Not Telling Truth on Iraq (Update3)
Sept. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told a National Guard convention that President George W. Bush ``failed the fundamental test of leadership'' by not telling the truth ``that the mission in Iraq is in serious trouble.''

``Two days ago, the president stood right where I'm standing, and did not even acknowledge that more than 1,000 men and women have lost their lives in Iraq,'' Kerry said. ``He did not tell you that with each passing day, we're seeing more chaos, more violence, more indiscriminate killings.''

Kerry cited a report in the New York Times this morning that Bush received a National Intelligence Estimate in July predicting that a worsening situation in Iraq could push the country into civil war by the end of next year.

``You deserve a president who will not play politics with national security, who will not ignore his own intelligence, while living in a fantasy world of spin, and who will give the American people the truth about the challenge our brave men and women face on the front lines,'' Kerry said.

10. Instead of "Fantasy World", how about...
"FantasyLand". Maybe people could start going to Bush Rallies wearing Fantasyland t-shirts...maybe a parody cartoon with Mickey saying "we're making steady progress in Iraq, Goofy", and Goofy replies "garsh Mickey, what about all those guns and bombs and dead bodies?" OK, maybe that's over the top...

2. Anyone starting to see why Kerry is going to squash the Chimp yet?
All Kerry has to do is keep talking about Bush's record and its goodnight Louise for Junior and his minions.

3. Fantasy World is almost as good as "Excuse President"
If Kerry keeps hitting like this he will at least win the popular vote. Who knows if the courts will let him be president, but he will win.

5. The American people deserve the truth!
Our troops deserve the truth.
No leader can command respect who steadfastly refuses to tell the truth or admit when they have made a mistake.

7. It doesn't matter that he didn't get a lot of applause
Hopefully some of this made it to the news shows and certainly to CSPAN. He plays to a larger audience than what is in front of him.

He is getting the pithy, sharp phrasing he was missing. Excellent!!

6. Let's kick it up a notch
Yea baby !

Kerry should not only say that Bush "failed", but start using the term "Miserable Failure" that has been circulating under the radar.

9. Most Americans hate the truth.
They prefer fairy tales with happy endings.Winning is everything and how the winning is done make no difference.

I hope Kerry repeats this speech and adds that Bush is a miserable failure here in America and In Iraq and Afghanistan.

11. I hope enough Americans can face the truth, otherwise Kerry loses
If Americans prefer fairy tales and winning (or the illusion of winnin) is everything, the Bush should win. So I hope this isn't always true.

I believe that if the case is stated sharply but accurately, and if an viable alternative to fantasy land can be presented, Kerry should win.
