Navy Says Kerry's Service Awards OK'd

WASHINGTON - The Navy's chief investigator concluded Friday that procedures were followed properly in the approval of Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites)'s Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals, according to an internal Navy memo.

"Conducting any additional review regarding events that took place over 30 years ago would not be productive," he wrote. "The passage of time would make reconstruction of the facts and circumstances unreliable, and would not allow the information gathered to be considered in the context of the time in which the events took place.


"Our review also considered the fact that Senator Kerry's post-active duty activities were public and that military and civilian officials were aware of his actions at the time. For these reasons, I have determined that Senator Kerry's awards were properly approved and will take no further action in this matter."

23. I bought it with my college texts in September 1966,

and it ran my bill up over $25, costing nearly $8 for the double LP!

I've seen Dylan live a couple of times since but still remember the excitement of getting that album, after he'd been injured in that motorcycle accident and out of sight. It was a good dose of poetry and reality in the midst of bubblegum music's bouncy arrival on the scene.

44. We need to attack the Media Double Standard

I think we personally need to stand by Dan Rathers. We also need to get every democrate to ATTACK THE MEDIA DOUBLE STANDARD. Remember when they media said that if Kerry took a lawsuit out on these people it would be bad because they deserved the right to freedom of speech?

Apparently the media has forgot. Remember when the Bush camp supported the Swift Boats for Truth that lied about Kerry's Vietnam record? Apparently the media has forgot!

Remember when these Swift Boat for Truth people went out and put ads up against Kerry? Well why didn't the media stop it? The media has created a double standard when it comes to broadcasting stories.

It's ok for Bush campgain people to lie and say that Kerry has done this and that this was a story to discredit Bush. Have you forgotten that these republicans are the same republicans that wore bandaids with a purple heart sticker at their nation convention? Apparently the media has forgotten.

Where was the media when Edwards was out their campgaining? If I remember right they were accussing Kerry's campgain group that they didn't know what to do with Edwards! Why aren't we able to force out all the media who went along with this lie?

I'm mad, I'm upset, and DAMN IT I LIKE KERRY. Wait the media said that Kerry isn't likeable! Not to mention the media is accepting polls that spin the vote in Bushs favor. Do the media cover storys that show Kerry in a postive like? No the down him on everything he does.

I call upon all democrates to UNIFY and support Kerry. We can still turn the Negative of CBS Memos into a postive by getting everyone to hit hard on this Double Standard that the Media has created. We must Unit. Let Kerry talk about the issues and keep pounding Bush and we must do the same. Get the DNC and Moveon.org to hit hard about Media Double Standard. If we don't rally now then media sure as hell won't.
