WROC-AM goes liberal beginning tomorrow

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040916/BUSINESS/40916006

In a complete flip of political content, WROC-AM (950) will switch Friday to a schedule of liberal talk radio, including the Al Franken Show from Air America Radio.

The WROC-AM lineup has included some of conservative radio’s best known commentators, including Laura Ingraham, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.

......

“We looked at the programming on Rochester commercial radio and saw a decidedly conservative bent,” Michael Doyle, Entercom Rochester’s general manager, said in a statement.

“At Entercom, we believe one of our roles is to engage the community we live in. We think both points of view should be heard on the radio,” Doyle said.

snip.

Rochester, NY. Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, and now Liberal AM radio. What a town!

1. They are doing this on their own
who said liberal radio did not sell?

LORD it took AAR to prove that there was a market

Expect most freepers to continue whining

8. advertisers: it's better to have 1 liberal spending listener,
than a dozen penny pinching, right wing, hate talking, conservative listeners that are too cheap to buy your products. This is one area where the tag "big spending liberals" should be considered good. Spread the word to other advertisers, "big spending liberals" looking for places to spend their money and consider sponsors of Air America first. We have the power, and te financial resources to make any radio station profitable, we just need to let the sponsors know we are out here wanting to spend money on quality products, and although we may not buy every product or service mentioned on Air America, we will consider them first.

3. WAHOO!!!!
I didn't know this and I live 20 miles from there. No more streaming AAR!!! This is fantastic, especially since they just brought back that other douchebag for freedom, Bob Lonsbury on another station.

Liberal Radio in good old Rachacha.......I'll listen and support every sponsor they have. This is terrific news.

I guess sometimes I concentrate so much on the news at the national level that I forget to see what's going on right in my own backyard!!

5. I wonder what they will have for overnight
I work nights but live quite a way from Rochester. So even if I were awake during the day, I doubt I could get a signal. Maybe they replay some of the programs from the day.

9. Thank Lonsberry and Clear Channel
When the idiot went over the top and lost his job in a racial slur against the mayor he offended the major market of the area. They LOST listeners and revenue big time.

Bushco Clear Channel reacted predictably in bringing back a "chastened" suffering Lonsberry. That whiny creep had snuck into a local GOP picnic looking like a lost lamb instead of the snake slithering back to his nest. Low and behold the wistful exile was back behind the mike in a few days.

WROC made the saner and more lucrative decision to play to the now attentive market.

Hate radio should never have crept into this area to begin with.

11. Look out America. The truth is out to get you! lol.
Enjoy it. We just got it here in San Diego a few weeks ago. It is SOOOOO much fun to hear people on the radio who speak the way I believe. And they don't even shout. Imagine that. You don't have to shout to get a point across. Well, I guess you do when the point is a BIG FAT LIE coming from a BIG FAT IDIOT. (Thank you Mr. Franken.) :)

16. The big one
Too cool, you're right down the road from our little "get away". We are between Sodus and Pultneyville. Keeping my fingers crossed that all the new developement doesn't change the area too much. The secret is out on how nice an area it is... sigh.

17. The Whackos are at it again....
Sending emails, and threatening boycotts...the usual nonsense.

Here's a Hannity thread to call out the freepers:

http://www.hannity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=94025

Your line up change SUCKS!!!!!

I plan to boycott your advertisers AND will be sending them e-mail also. Also, I plan to tell everyone I know on every conservative forum I can think of!

WROC SUCKS.

Pat

Be sure to drop them a counter email, telling them how grateful you are that they are starting an enlightened lineup.
