The monument is expected to be removed this week, though at least one company refused the job. Clark Memorial, a Birmingham company that built and moved the monument into the building, declined for business and personal reasons, vice president Charles Tourney said.

Moore contends it is his duty to acknowledge God in the rotunda of the state government building.

15. Hi there, I was raised on the 10 C's

and I got the joke and didn't find it offensive. It wasn't attacking the 10 commandments per se, it was a frivolous crack at how much importance has been given to a piece of artwork that has been carved into a symbol of the meaning of the 10 commandments.

Who knows, I could be wrong. Blood may start pouring from its crevices, miracles will happen upon those who hath touched this idolatry, the blind will see, the poor will eat plentifully, etc.

It'll be interesting to see if any of the christian protesters try to block the process and get squashed like grapefruits.

Then it would be a violation.

The marriage ceremony... A local minister wrote a letter in our paper stating that he would be forced by the government to perform same-sex marriages/unions. That is a crock because the only recognized marriage/union is by the state. And each religion is left to their requirements of who they will allow to be married by their churches. Individuals have the option of being married by a religious person or by a justice of the peace/judge or other person authorized by the state.

45. Regarding the actual removal,

I understand that there's some concern over how to remove it, given it's size and weight and that only specialized equipment and crew can handle it. I've also heard that the christnuts are threatening boycotts and other action against any company that touches it. But nothing says that it has to be removed in one piece. A few jackhammers and wheelbarrows and that thing could be out of there in a hurry. And just for good measure, they should dump the pieces on Roy's front lawn and send him the bill.

They should had instructed Moore that if it wasn't removed in 48 hours then it would be removed by ANY means and they would still have to pay the bill either way. Also, that they would pay for any damages to the building resulting from the removal of the rock.

According to a site I went to, www.jewfaq.org, the Ten Commandments
are not referred to as commandments in the Torah or Rabbinical texts.

The translation means the Ten Sayings, Statements, Declarations, Words, Things. And that they are in reality parts of the 613 mitzvot,
or Jewish Commandments, which don't apply to Gentiles.

What does apply to Gentiles are The Seven Laws of Noah, since it is
believed that all humanity are his and his families descendents. These
Laws were given to Noah by God before the Great Flood, they are

1). To establish courts of law
2). Not to commit blasphemy
3). Not to commit idolatry
4). Not to commit incest or adultery
5). Not to commit bloodshed
6). Not to commit robbery
7). Not to eat flesh cut from a living animal

And since Noah and the Great Flood existed before Moses and the Ten
Commandments, wouldn't these Seven Laws take precedence over the Ten
Commandment.

Any theologians out there want to take a shot at this?
