Bush makes condolence call at Russian Embassy
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush made an unexpected visit to the Russian Embassy on Sunday where he signed a book of condolence for victims of the school hostage seizure and expressed outrage at the actions of "evil terrorists."

"The atrocities that took place in the school were beyond comprehension," the president told reporters after writing a one-page note in the book.

"Many in America and, I know, many Russians cannot conceive the heart of a person who could mow down innocent children. The killers once again remind us of the duties we have as free people to work in concert, to work in unity, to make this world a better place," Bush said at the embassy.

Bush flew by helicopter from the presidential retreat at Camp David, Md., landing at the vice president's residence and making a short drive to the Russian Embassy. The stop had not been listed on the president's official schedule for Sunday.

1. What took him so long?

He should have been there days ago...must have been finally dragged over by the protocol chief. Too late. No class.

2. He's a week late
Reminds me of the insulting offer of 58 grand to Cuba.

*note to self: add 'social skills' to chief exec's job description

10. He was at his convention
Apparently his priorities is to his fellow repubs rather than the children.

7. ttt
He cares so much for those people that he told the military not to count them, let alone recognize them.

What an asshole.

5. has nothing to do with George, he was told to make the stop over.
A more clueless and inept executive would be hard to find outside of this shadow White House.

6. Doesn't probably even realize that his neocon mouthpieces,
who are blaming the tragedy on Russian policies and chastizing Putin for claiming that the event was tied to the war on terrorism, wouldn't exactly ingratiate bush to Putin... but then again - all must be well between them because bush looked into pooty poot*'s eyes and saw his soul...

*Pooty poot is bush's nick name for Putin... seriously!

8. Maybe Bush Better Have a Small Look At Russian History
The Tzar's had no problems, and neither did their communist heirs.

"Many in America and, I know many in Russia cannot conceive the heart of a person who could mow down innocent children."

Would this be the same Russia that invaded Afghanistan, and even before that invaded Eastern European countries, would this be the same Russia that often had Pogroms against Russian Jews. And that even now has it's own version of skinheads who have attacked dark skinned people, is this the Russia that Shrub is talking about. The
Russia that has killed Chechen children, is that the Russia he's talking about.

And I guess that the children that the US killed and is still killing
don't count. We have seen a person that could mow down innocent children, he sits in the Oval Office and allows his troops to drop bombs on the city of Falluja, killing Iraqi children, but I guess they don't count do they George.

Maybe George, Vladamir, and all who support this war should look into a mirror, then they would see those with the heart to mow down innocent children.

9. Talk Is Cheap - Moscow Condemned US for Giving Asylum to Chechen Terrorist
August 6, 2004:

Moscow slams Chechen's US asylum

Russian officials have condemned a decision by the US to grant asylum to a high-ranking Chechen separatist, who Moscow says is a terrorist.
Ilyas Akhmadov was foreign minister in the separatist Chechen government led by Aslan Maskhadov from 1997 to 1999.

The senior pro-Russian Chechen official in Moscow described the move as a "sign of US double standards".

Observers say Russia has repeatedly failed to convince foreign governments to extradite alleged extremists.

But BBC regional analyst Steven Eke says the US has been noticeably less critical of Russian conduct in Chechnya since President George W Bush launched his "war on terror".

11. Did he take time from his busy fucking schedule..
to stop by to offer condolences to any of the families who lost someone in his bogus Iraq fiasco. Huh? And why wouldn't he? Because he knows the whole gig is nothing more than a cash cow for Halliburton etal. and an implementation the PNAC manifesto. I detest this douche bag more than I'm able to describe.

18. My first thoughts exactly.
Has he taken any time off from his campaigning to go to a soldier's funeral or a dead soldier's family to offer condolences? I think we all know the answer to that. Only when it's a photo op and he can get a sappy headline in that rag, USA Today does he go, and then reluctantly. What a complete embarrassment to our country. I hope any DU'ers from other countries realize that he doesn't represent all of us here in America, certainly not me.

12. I hope he wasn't
the first representative of our government to haul his ass over there. Might have been nice for Powell or someone high up at State to make the gesture early so Doofus doesn't look like someone who had to go back for his lunch money and just lost track of the time.
You never know with this group who they're going to insult, and it's always a possibility...

13. Anybody see his remarks? The idiot was absolutely INCOHERENT.
All he did was stammer and stutter and grope for words. It was EMBARRASSING. Every time I look at him I think to myself: "WHEN does this END?????"

15. Did he really say "mow down"?

This guy is our "pResident" and all he can come up with are
adjectives used by WWW tag team wrestlers?

Note to Bush campaign workers - NEVER, EVER let your guy make
any "off the cuff" or unscripted remarks, he's just an total
embarrassment to our nation.
