Central Texans gather for anti- war demonstration
Austin (AP)

About 200 people marched through downtown Austin today in protest of a corporation that provided contract interrogators alleged to have participated in Iraq prison abuse cases.

Protesters said they chose the date because they believed the Sept. 11 attacks started the series of events that led to U.S. fighting in Iraq and the prisoner abuse.

The protesters marched for about two hours, concluding with a mock trial of Virginia-based CACI International. ..

No arrests or injuries were reported.

1. I don't ever like walking down the street in Austin after 5.
No wonder they said there were no injuries.

2. Great to see this in the pResident's "home state."
From the Ft. Worth Start Telegram:
"What America's doing is subcontracting paramilitaries of its own and doing its dirty work in the rest of the world," said Mayer, who played the "Devil's Advocate" in the mock trial. "They're out there doing whatever they want and they've got support and backing from the government, but they're not under any recognizable law and I think that's wrong."

According to results of an Army investigation, released this month, three civilian interrogators from CACI contributed to the abuse at Abu Ghraib prison. The investigation's conclusions contradict the preliminary conclusions of CACI's own investigation, which found no evidence of wrongdoing.
