ABC News: Hodges Now Claims He Was Misled by CBS
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/NotedNow/Noted_Now.html

HODGES SAID HE WAS MISLED BY CBS: Retired Maj. General Hodges, Killian's supervisor at the Grd, tells ABC News that he feels CBS misled him about the documents they uncovered. According to Hodges, CBS told him the documents were "handwritten" and after CBS read him excerpts he said, "well if he wrote them that's what he felt."

Hodges also said he did not see the documents in the 70's and he cannot authenticate the documents or the contents. His personal belief is that the documents have been "computer generated" and are a "fraud".

4. I seriously doubt CBS LIED to him. Grow up, sir.
Obviously the Bush regime has contacted him. Even if he believed he had been lied to, why would he suddenly ALSO assume CBS was pushing fraudulent memos?

Give us all a little credit. CBS is very professional and has a great reputation which they aren't likely to blow for a quick story accomplished without checking EVERYTHING.

6. Why doesn't someone pull a few documents from the same office?
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 11:51 AM by Gregorian
Not that it changes the story behind the documents. I mean, here we are arguing, when we all know Bush was not serving his ordered duty.
But two or three documents out of the same office, that show the same details, would simply shut this stupid argument down. It's easy. But it would probably take a subpoena of some kind. Nevertheless, bush is a traitor. It's not even worth our time. And if the people really really want bush, then we can't really stop them. It's a dark time for this country, and it's targets.

Wrong. We can't stop now. It's time to stand up.

7. Has anyone else noticed this pattern?
People say things about Bushco, and then soon afterward backpedal.

Richard Clarke: First he said the bin Ladens were allowed to leave the country when they should have been interrogated. Then he says he okayed their leaving.

Paul O'Neill says things about Bushco, and says, "I'm old and rich. What can they do to me?" Soon afterward, he softens some of his charges.

Sharon Bush says Bush snorted coke and Laura smoked pot. Now she says she never said these things--though her retraction is undermined by the presence of a witness to her having made the statements in the first place.

Hodges tells CBS one thing over the phone, and then claims he didn't really say that or mean that and that CBS misled him about the TANG documents.

That Elliot fellow from the Swifties retracts what he said in the Swiftboat ad, saying he is the one in trouble, but within 24 hours he retracts his retraction.

Doesn't it sound as though a lot of people are waking up to find horses' heads in their bed?

11. completely. The Bush family is like the mafia
only more powerful. They are the worst thing to happen to this country. War, destruction and death, my god they are really just horrible people. And this person, Bush, is such a disgusting coward. He was a pathetic bullying coward who sent others to die in his place while cheering on the war, and is the same today. Isn't that the real issue? Does Hodges deny that Bush failed to fucking show up for his physical and was grounded and they wasted all that money training him and he was just a lost cause? I mean isn't that all that the memos essentially say? What is "false" about that? Why doesn't ABC fucking ask him that question. They are just such fucking asshole media whores.

12. Don't forget the first breakthrough – John DiIulio
of Mayberry Machiavelli fame.

…At his noon briefing, Mr. Fleischer crisply informed the press corps that "any suggestion that the White House makes decisions that are not based on sound policy reasons is baseless and groundless." Although Helen Thomas tried to press the issue, the questioning instantly reverted to Iraq, where Mr. Fleischer wanted it. He did reveal, however, that Mr. DiIulio "has spoken with officials in the office--the faith-based office, and talked with them."

Within less than two hours, another release emerged from the Penn press office: "John DiIulio agrees that his criticisms were groundless and baseless due to poorly chosen words and examples. He sincerely apologizes and is deeply remorseful." He promised never again to discuss or write about his frustrating experiences in the White House.

she said this was just reported on Fox news. She said this on Chatarea.com/allpolitics.

If posting info you don't want to hear here is going to cause me to be accused of being disingenious then maybe you need a reality check.

If a link comes along I'll post it and I hope she's full of shit.

Spare me the accusations.

21. No one is asking Hodges the right question
Hodges stated that what was in the memos was what Killian had voiced to him on several occasions.

Someone needs to ask Hodges about this.

29. The Neo Fascists screwed up.
When they challenged Dan Rather. He won't back down as most usually do. There are more documents and now CBS will dig in. People mostly believe what they want to and no amount of facts change their minds.

More than what's being challenged? Do they say the same things or at least similar?

31. CBS Evening News:
This evening admitted that Hodges changing his story, but that CBS is standing by their story.

1)Did lt.bush* disobey a direct order from his commanding officer?

2) Did Lt.bush* refuse to take a required physical? If so, why?

Don't bet against 60minutes, Dan Rather, or CBS. They haven't shown all their cards.

made a brilliant observation:

He thought the docs were real when he thought they were hand-written, but now thinks they're fake 'cause they're typed.

34. The problem is that he claims CBS lied to him
...that CBS told him the documents were handwritten. Now he finds out they're typed, so that leads him to believe that, if CBS has lied to him on one point, maybe they lied on others, maybe the documents are fake.

This all assumes that he's not just doing a big CYA himself in order not to get in trouble with the Bushies.

Later,
