Condit Settles Libel Suit Against Tabloid Newspapers
Former Congressman Gary Condit has settled a multi-million dollar libel lawsuit against three tabloid newspapers over articles connecting him to the disappearance of federal intern Chandra Levy.

Condit suit against American Media Inc. sought $209 million. The company publishes the National Enquirer, Globe and Star newspapers, all of which offered extensive coverage of the disappearance of Chandra Levy.

The case was settled out of court, although terms of the agreement aren't being released. Condit's attorney would say only that he was "satisfied" with the settlement.

The settlement was made final in a Florida court on August 18, but information on the case was not immediately released.

1. wasn't Condit's exposure in the tabloids over her disappearance
going on at roughly the same time Joe Scarborough's intern and her death in his office happened? Scarborough's story didn't hit the tabloid, I do believe.

2. What about the networks
they went with that story 24/7. maybe if someone got them in the pocketbook for running stories like that they would think about the validity of rumors and lies stop the sensationalism and go back to the real news that they don't report now.

4. He should sue Connie Chung, in particular
He's got a pending case against Dominick Dunne, who came up with the fantastic tale of Condit having her kidnapped by Middle-easterners, loaded into an airplane, and either dumped in the ocean or sold into slavery in Arabia.
