Bogged down in Iraq, US encounters limits to military power
Agence France-Presse

The United States has turned to the United Nations for help in Iraq, embraced diplomacy with North Korea and only reluctantly sent small numbers of US troops to help a west African peacekeeping mission in Liberia

For an administration known for a go-it-alone, heavy-handed approach to world affairs, those developments reflect something new, analysts here say: The United States is bumping up against the limits of its military power.

After back-to-back wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and entangling, open-ended occupations in both countries, the United States no longer has the luxury of readily available military options.

"We cannot be everywhere at all times in the world," US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told US troops this week at the Soto Cano air base in Honduras when asked whether current US forces were numerous enough to meet commitments overseas. ---

We are going to change history -- we're going to have a ton of fun doing it.

1. Limits???
Certainly Lil George thinks there ought to be limits to freedom, particularly when it comes to speech. But limits on the military and its ability wage the war of all-against-all that PNAC so lusts after? Say it isn't so!

2. World conquest on a shoestring budget?
Haven't quite got that one figured out yet. But the Emperor is more than willing to kill off a few thousand US soldiers and any number of foriegn citizens experimenting on how to take over the world on the cheap.
Why would the American people willingly accept world conquest, but not if they have to pay for it with the lives of their children? We're spending our treasure and the treasure of our children's children, if the US citizens would just allow the draft, then there won't be as many children left to be deprived of their birthright.

I don't know, I think there should be a draft just to see how things fall out. It might be o.k. with the American people. Who knows?

?

I'm not holding my breath.

The other big problem by doing all this unilateral warmongering is that they have just tipped our military hand to everyone in the world. Don't think all the players weren't taking lots of notes.

I bet MI5 and MI6 has plenty of notes on file now too.

This PNAC bunch is so fucking stupid it defies comprehension.

Just as Pershing wouldn't allow his troops to be commanded by the French and British, no other major countries will allow us to kill their boys for them. We're not going to relinquish control; we stole all that oil fair and square.

We've got 112.5 billion barrels to slurp up afore we even thinks uh leavin'...

How dare they not allow us to boss them around.

SHARE? Perish the thought.
