Hamas Calls Bush 'Islam's Biggest Enemy'

The Associated Press
Saturday, August 23, 2003; 12:02 PM

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - A leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas on Saturday called President Bush an enemy of Islam because the U.S. government froze the assets of Hamas leaders in response to a suicide bombing of a bus in Jerusalem.

Speaking to Dubai-based Al-Arabiya TV, Abdel Aziz Rantisi called the action "a theft of Muslim money by the Americans" and said the frozen money doesn't belong to Hamas.

"Hamas does not have any money in the U.S., Europe or even in the Arab states. President Bush has become Islam's biggest enemy," Rantisi said in the interview.

On Friday, the United States froze the assets of six Hamas leaders, including Rantisi, an aide to Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the group's spiritual leader. The United States also froze the assets of five European-based organizations that it said raise money for the radical Palestinian group.

Bush said he ordered the assets frozen because Hamas claimed responsibility for Tuesday's suicide attack on a packed bus in Jerusalem that killed 20 people, including six children.

4. If Hamas is a terrorist organization, why did Bush wait until now?
This goes with another LBN story in which it is alleged that the US is looking the other way in its "search" for Bin Laden at the request of the government of Pakistan.

If Hamas is a terrorist organization, which it is IMHO, why did Bush wait until now to freeze their assets?

This is nothing more than a PR ploy by the Bush regime. Bush has no clue as to what to do in the Middle East, just as he has been proven to be totally clueless in the post-Saddam aftermath in Iraq.

better to distract all from the significance of Mofaz's plan which both he and Sharon needed the appropriate amount of time to enact almost fully. It is now time to see how it is all in collusion will justify their awaited preemptive strike as outlined by the Mofaz Plan itself.

As you probably are aware, it seems Israel has pointed the finger at Syria as the culprit in regard to the UN bombing. Many have be been clueless it is only now The Guardian saw fit to bring Mofaz' plan to our attention as one of the weaknesses in US policy in regard to the ME and the Iraq construction. Their analysis was that it was time to reign in Sharon. What a laugh.

So many opportunities to reign him in have arisen only to pass one right after the other. Interesting that our correspondents would withhold discussion of Mofaz' Plan to well after most of it has been exacted. So much for timely reporting. Jane's picked up the plan in July 2001. Still few seem interested in the signifcance of this Plan. I did have a rant about in Editorials pretty much by my lonesome.
