Mark Thatcher has put his Constantia mansion on the market for a whopping R24-million and the estate agent given the sole mandate to sell it believes the price will not be a problem.
Mike Greeff, managing director of Greeff Properties, expected the house to go to "a very special buyer", probably a top business executive or an embassy.
The thatched house is set on two acres on the corner of Dawn Avenue and Monterey Drive.
The property has spectacular views across the city
It is surrounded by a two-metre white wall with towering black gates which have kept the prying eyes of the world's media at bay all week as Thatcher remained under house arrest while police investigated his alleged role in a plot to overthrow the president of Equatorial Guinea.
Weekend Argus can reveal that a peek behind the imposing wall uncovers just what R24-million can get the aspirant buyer in the city's ballooning property market.
