Powell admits lack of certainty on foreign troops for Iraq
WASHINGTON (AFP)

US Secretary of States Colin Powell admitted there was no certainty how many foreign troops were going to Iraq to help US and British forces, in an indication that US efforts to enlist international assistance in pacifying the country may have hit a snag.

"I can't give you the exact number of nations or how many troops are going to be committed," Powell said, appearing on CNN's "Larry King Live" program.

The statement starkly contrasted with recent upbeat assessments by top Defense Department officials, who have insisted that foreign aid to battle-weary American soldiers was well on the way. ---

"The guts of the work will still have to be done by the United States, Great Britain and the original members of the coalition," conceded the secretary of state. ---

1. Another massive foriegn policy failure
The competence of the American armed forces was demonstrated briefly in a short successful military maneuver which can only be called invasion. The foreign policy of the junta preceding the invasion and associated with the invasion was a massive failure and nothing has really changed politically except that now, it is worse.

The invasion was also a strategic blunder as the junta cannot find a way to extricate itself.

2. The futur is cheerless
With a cost of 3,7 billion $ per month and a lack of about 200 000 soldiers to restore order.

Rummy said he would agree if France sends troops !! He's a comic or a fool !

4. Colin Powell what a traitor to his country, the armed service
and his race. Why did I ever think this yes man could lead our country in any way. Why would he choose this path. Is the brain washing in the military that effective? Did bushco threaten to tell the Mrs of all his affairs?? Or that Micheal would loose his great job at the FCC,

Federal Criminal Corporation.

there is no American blood in this puppet.

:puke: hell I am puking all over the place this morning :puke:

6. "Colin Powell what a traitor to his country, the armed service"
I agree completely. This supposed military man is involved in sending troops into this pile of shit knowning full well that it's a bogus operation to secure more riches for chimpy's pals. The only good outcome of this whole mess, in my opinion, is that enlistments in the regular and reserve components of the military should likely fall to next to nothing. No cannon fodder = no agressive bullshit.

5. "Hit a snag"
Yup. A little snag called "Your mess, you clean it up, assholes."

The usual response to which will of course be strong-arm threats and bribery. Adding either way--in dollars or good will--to the monumental cost of this idiotic imperial adventure.

Some DUer coined the term "Iraqnam." Looks like the rest of the world can learn from our mistakes even if we don't seem capable of it.

7. What lack of certainty?
"Certainly not!" sounds like the response we're getting from the rest of the world.
