ELECTION 2004: Miller picks fighting over switching
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 10:06 AM by RamblingRose
He's been a Democrat all his life. He will deliver the keynote address to the Republican National Convention on Wednesday as a Democrat. And he will still be a Democrat as he travels the country this fall campaigning for President Bush.

So as Democrats from Washington to Atlanta step up their demands that Miller get out of the party, Georgia's retiring senior senator just shakes his head and says it one more time: He was "born a Democrat" and will die one.

<snip>

For those who still don't get it, Miller said in an interview last week he will try one more time in his keynote address to explain why he refuses to quit the Democratic Party.

"You can expect from this Democrat the reason why I am supporting the first Republican that I ever voted for in my life," Miller, 72, said. "I voted for 13 straight Democrats starting with Adlai Stevenson. I have voted for hundreds, literally hundreds, of local Democrats. This will be the first Republican I have ever voted for, and I'll try to explain why that is."

Says most understand

But Miller said he believes most American voters, like those in Appalachia, instinctively understand his actions.

"If people think that the Democrats of Georgia oppose Zell Miller's thinking on this issue, wrong," Miller said. "I don't know where you think this widespread opposition is. It's loud and it's shrill, and it's become very profane on our phone lines, but it's not a lot of people."

<snip>

"Kerry represents exactly what Zell doesn't want the Democratic Party to be," Black said. "And I think Zell represents the view of most of the people in the area he comes from. I would think most of them would not be voting for Kerry this fall."

6. Retarded bastard
He was "born a Democrat" and will die one." Well, I wish he'd be quick about it.

"...most American voters, like those in Appalachia, instinctively understand his actions."
Huh? I understand he's an opportunistic turn-coat with about as much ethical being as the company he's keeping. The f***ing Repug trash can have his worthless ass.

7. Make no mistake....he is only registered
as a Democrat. He has mis-represented the people who voted for him under the definition of the Democratic Party principles. He is not adhering in any way, shape or form as a Democrat. He is not a democrat....he will die as a "sell-out" who took the money.

"But Miller said he believes most American voters, like those in Appalachia, instinctively understand his actions."

Being from Appalachia I instinctively understand what a lying sack of crap he is.

As if people from the hills don't have enough bad stereotypes to deal with.

Glad to see you here! My very intelligent father's from Appalachia and has had to deal with the stereotypes all his life.
The only thing he'd give Zell is some friendly advice.

9. Zig-Zag Zell
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 10:19 AM by seasat
I used to live in GA and Zell Miller has a reputation for switching views depending on where he can get the best political advantage. I think that, after 9/11, he saw Bush's popularity and tied his future to him. I expect that he looked for a reward from Shrub such as a cabinet position or ambassadorship. However, Shrub screwed up big time with his radical neocon position and now Zig-Zag Zell has to do everything he can to get Shrub reselected. When Shrub is defeated Zell will just fade into obscurity or become a commentator for Fox news.

He's just a "disgruntled" old spoilsport who thought he would have influence in the Senate, but who did NOT..

12. Zell is WRONG! I live in North Ga. and I have written to him many times
telling him how much of a sellout he is, and that I'm ashamed of him and myself for ever voting for him. I have not run into even ONE Georgia Dem who feels any different! I can only think he did this for his own personal gain, and I hate him for it!!!

13. Let's kick him out
Then he can't bill himself as a Democrat. He will be just another Southern party switcher and won't carry much weight with swing voters.

17. So run one more time, Zig Zag
You're so sure of your position, and absolutely certain that your Democratic constituency approves, why didn't you run one more time, and prove it? Or would your abysmal primary numbers and humiliating defeat at the hands of . . . well, anyone, be too much personal repudiation?

So long, Zell. It has NOT been good to know ya. And this is just a guess, but Will Rogers never met you, did he?

19. No, Zell will die a whore
I laugh when I hear Zellout Miller proclaim that the part left him. Did the Democratic Party change that much since 1992 when he gave a keynote speec at its convention? NO! He left the party when it was of no use to him.

20. As I opened my paper this morning
and read the whole article, I was struck not by how crazy Zell was, but that they don't appear to know proper English in Appalachia. I know it's stereotypical, but I'm from Georgia so I can make fun of my own if I want to.

I've made the point several times that voting preferences often mirror educational backgrounds. And I should point out now that GA is dead last in education.

Someone remind me again why I continue to stay here?? Oh yeah, it's too cold in Vermont.

25. Why are we talking about this jackoff?
He's lost his mind. He is not alone of course, there are millions of people who cannot get past the 9/11 debacle and think clearly. He is one of them. Let him spew his assinine lizard-speak.

For those of us who have moved on to clear thinking and problem solving, well we got much on our plate. Zell doesn't make a drop in the ocean.
