State viewed as vital to Democrats' vision

candidates.

Colorado and other Rocky Mountain states are so critical to the Democrats' vision of victory that the party will commit resources to assist local candidates.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the highest-ranking woman in Congress, said Friday that the Democrats need to pick up 12 House seats, two Senate seats and the White House.

"This state is very important," said Pelosi, D-Calif. She said the national party "has a plan how we can win" 40 more of the 435 House districts.
