Club of the Most Powerful Gathers in Strictest Privacy

By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK

Three times a year for 23 years, a little-known club of a few hundred of the most powerful conservatives in the country have met behind closed doors at undisclosed locations for a confidential conference, the Council for National Policy, to strategize about how to turn the country to the right.

Details are closely guarded.

"The media should not know when or where we meet or who takes part in our programs, before of after a meeting," a list of rules obtained by The New York Times advises the attendees.

The membership list is "strictly confidential." Guests may attend "only with the unanimous approval of the executive committee." In e-mail messages to one another, members are instructed not to refer to the organization by name, to protect against leaks.

This week, before the Republican convention, the members quietly convened in New York, holding their latest meeting almost in plain sight, at the Plaza Hotel, for what a participant called "a pep rally" to re-elect President Bush.

2. CNP: the right wing zealots and religious lunatics behind the GOP
The council was founded in 1981, just as the modern conservative movement began its ascendance. The Rev. Tim LaHaye, an early Christian conservative organizer and the best-selling author of the "Left Behind" novels about an apocalyptic Second Coming, was a founder. His partners included Paul Weyrich, another Christian conservative political organizer who also helped found the Heritage Foundation.

They said at the time that they were seeking to create a Christian conservative alternative to what they believed was the liberalism of the Council on Foreign Relations.

11. In the realm of power, there are the "front people"
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 10:49 AM by SpiralHawk
and then there are the occult, or hidden people. This is an occult, hidden group. Just because you cannot see it in plain view, do not doubt for an instant their occult power.

They have a very fundamental reason for hiding and remaining occult: if the citizenry knew the truth about what they are doing, they would put an end to it.

Occult manipulations and violations of any person or persons free will has but one ultimate result -- the imutable law of karma X 10. So it is.

8. This is the enemy folks.....
Bushco etc. are only the visible tip of the iceberg. These Conservative
think tanks are whats below the water. They are why we are having to
fight like hell to have a government that even partially reflects the true
values of the majority of Americans, rather than it being a given in our
Democracy that we vote for it.

These secret Conservative think tanks make sure that political battles
in the US are always done on the Right's terms, and get away with it
because of access to almost unlimited amounts of money. Their above
ground recruiters are Fox and the Right-wing radio nuts whose job it
is to convince Americans to focus their frustrations on us evil liberals.

I don't know what shocks me more: that it works so well, or that in
spite of their resources, it isn't working that well!

23. An excellent point regarding the think tanks.
They have Americans believing that global warming, along with virtually every other environmental disaster currently taking place, is a two-sided issue. Very, very dangerous, deadly and deceptive are the conservative think tanks.

12. It's like the Grove
where Dick Cheney engages in Bohemian Transvestism and ritual child sacrifice. My top secret contact in high Masonic places has recently gathered a number of packets from their unencrypted e-mails: Seems the boys of "Club of the Most Powerful" use fecal matter as body paint, all the while sitting around in their underpants drinking synthemesk watching "the passion of the christ". A real ugly site to behold, oh my brothers..

13. these are the groups
and people associated with these groups that we must discredit and crush! They are not conservatives they are trying to take democracy away from us by manipulating and controlling the message.

<snip>The membership list this year was a who's who of evangelical Protestant conservatives and their allies, including Dr. Dobson, Mr. Weyrich, Holland H. Coors of the beer dynasty; Wayne LaPierre of the National Riffle Association, Richard A. Viguerie of American Target Advertising, Mark Mix of the National Right to Work Committee and Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform. </snip>

Scorn for right-wing think tanks should be a given and brought up at every chance we are given we should talk them down and we can do it with facts.

Every time you hear a Congresscritter quote from a right-wing think tank or a media head quote them call them and let them know that their sources are biased and the public isn't going to continue to sit back and take their bs! If those congresscritters can't do their jobs we fire them if they want to keep using right-wing pig-tanks to base legislation on that impacts our lives!

And I don't care if the media does inform us that it's a right wing pig think tank they need to start doing their own research investigations period! Or they can expect to not have us as viewers or purchasing their newspapers! (Most of them have already lost me as a consumer of their crap)

Even if Kerry is elected we must fight these people toe to toe.

Think about it, it took them 30 years to get where they are and they have many cracks in their Armour.

For as long as they've been working and as much money as they have they really don't have a solid foundation. Truth is not on their side. With their so called 'think tanks' they see what they want first and then they find a way to prove it no matter how dishonest and they use educated sounding people to put lipstick on their pig-tanks.

They can keep on writing their fancy pants papers doesn't mean we have to continue to acknowledge their work for any more than what it is intellectually dishonest.
I say we hurl scorn upon them and anyone that uses them as a source!

14. SLEUTHS: A Tom Hannon attended CNP in '84,'85, same name as CNN Pol. Dir.
according to this link:

Question: Is it the same Tom Hannon? Does anyone know anyone by that name who would be part of the right-wing elite? Does anyone know anything about CNN's Political Director Tom Hannon?

17. This is Hillary's "vast right-wing conspiracy"
I didn't even know of them until a few days ago when I Googled for Robert J. Parry (funder of the Swiftboat ads.) But I've been learning fast.

The background of this organization is the extreme right of the 50's -- people associated with McCarthyism, the John Birch Society, and so forth -- which in turn had its roots in the fascist right of the 30's. Many of its members are extraordinarily wealthy and are not shy about spending their money in unscrupulous ways. They did their best to destroy Clinton and they were behind the smears on McCain in 2000 and Kerry now. The religious right is also heavily represented.

There are lists of their membership at
http://watch.pair.com/database.html
http://www.seekgod.ca/topiccnp.htm

I've been plowing through the first of these, and it looks like whoever assembled it just cut-and-pasted whatever they could find -- which means some of the entries seem to express a left-wing fear of fascists and other seem to express a right-wing fear of illuminati. But just reviewing the names, and seeing who is connected with whom, goes a long way towards explaining what is currently wrong in this country.
