Bush: 'I am not going to come in second'
By Judy Keen and Richard Benedetto, USA TODAY

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE — As President Bush prepares for the Republican convention in New York next week, he says losing the election has never crossed his mind and the war with Iraq was worth putting his political future at risk. ..

11. that's a lie based on an article from a few days ago
can someone find link? Bush had 10 "average" workers on his campaign bus (Pittsburgh or mid-west somewhere?) and one of the comments he made was that if he lost, then God wanted him to "take a break" or something like that.

add this to the flip-flop list.

Sorry to be :tinfoilhat: here, but his actions and this statement make it totally clear they aren't worried about staying another 4 years.

Really makes you wonder. I'm not sure that elections are working up to our expectations even half-baked ones.

Let's hope and pray that I am soooo wrong!! We might all be on anti-depressants or housed someplace in the middle of nowhere if this turns out to be the case.

EDIT: And NO! I'm not being pessimistic or whining or whatever.. I'm leary and taking a wait and see attitude because there's too much that * , his Poppy and this regime have done illegally and under the table and have yet to be made to pay for their actions.

In my state of NC. The election officials are completely in bed with the DRE vendors. Needless to say it ain't looking great right now. I believe as Bev Harris has said we are looking at a "train wreck" in the 2004 election...There will be lawsuits galore and omg... I am sick thinking of the outcome... :(

19. You are NOT being
pessimistic, whining, or anything of the sort. We ALL have reason to worry...remember when Florida was called for President Gore? Dumbass II sat with his parents, unruffled, and said he wasn't concerned because his brother, Dumbass the III said he'd deliver Florida...of course, along with help of the cousin at FAUX...they are evil! True evil...we must be prepared for anything and everything!

31. Election 2000 was a coup de tat. There was nothing honorable about it

And juntas historically find it difficult to relinquich power. I'm afraid that I too am pessimistic about the future of what used to be the United States of America.

More and more it seems to me that the only possibility of returning to a democracy we have is a popular uprising. Looking back, it seems to me that in every case of the wealthy taking power from the people, a revolution occurred in which the powerfull were overthrown and the people took over. In most cases the powerfull paid with their lives.

The only question in my mind is whether it will be a peaceful and quiet revolution, or a very noisy and violent revolution. But there is no doubt that a revolution it will be if bush has another four years.

Of course I likely won't be here. If Kerry loses in november, me and the wife are gone. Don't know where yet. Just somewhere else.

Money if fungable. I can live anywhere.

We can stop this people. We can.
#1 point- find out what is supporting the injustice and remove that support. In our case, withold cooperation. Don't believe the meme that we are powerless any more than you believe that both candidates are the same
Also thank you very much for the great laugh about "even Nader is going to beat him" ... :)

If you can find a copy at your university library definitely watch 'a force more powerful' about nonviolent resistance. It WORKS, has worked against opressors just as creepy as this lot. Pinochet, Hitler, et al. Can do, people!

54. The book blurb:
The Anti-Coup
by Gene Sharp and Bruce Jenkins
As coups are one of the primary ways through which dictatorships are installed, this piece details measures that civilians, civil society, and governments can take to prevent and block coups d’état and executive usurpations. It also contains specific legislative steps and other measures that governments and non-governmental institutions can follow to prepare for anti-coup resistance.

22. I'm afraid I agree. The arrogance of the Totalitarian Tyrant
Let's hope this election, rigged and all, goes the way of Ferdinand Marcos' last "election" (overseen by foreign observers, also) rather than Adolf Hitler's 1934 "plebiscite".

The world is holding it's breath and trembling like 1938.

Because in many ways it IS 1938 again and the shadow of Totalitarianism falls over the world...

35. On the night of the 2000 election, remember how sure he was that...
...he had not lost Florida? Just as he knew, then, that the fix was in, he knows it now. The vast majority of voters will vote against him but I get the strongest feeling that he's not worried in the least. And all of his campaign rallies, as well as those of Cheney, where the audiences are thoroughly vetted and literally sworn in, are nothing more than props, set up to make his "win" seem less unlikely.

49. http://www.bushwatch.net/e-mail.htm
there is at least 4 articles on Voter Manipulation.

By Jo Becker
Washington Post Staff Writer
Studies suggest that as many as 4 million to 6 million voters were disenfranchised in 2000, either because registration problems prevented qualified voters from casting ballots or because of errors caused by faulty, outdated technology. In Florida, the Civil Rights Commission found that black voters were 10 times as likely as whites to have their ballots rejected, a trend also found in other parts of the country.

Yesterday on C-SPAN the People for the American Way and NAACP held a press conference detailing how our elections can be manipulated. I watched it last night on a reairing and no big surprise that there was only about 6 people from the press in attendence, if that many.

Of course the boy who would be King/Dictator isn't worried.
