Bush Twins Preen for Convention Spotlight
(Hmm...they won't make formal speeches at the convention? Why not?)

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040826/ap_on_el_pr/bush_twins_convention&cid=694&ncid=2043

snippet:

Barbara and Jenna Bush, 22, are not expected to make formal speeches at the GOP gathering in New York City, but they'll be very visible at the convention, hosting a youth concert and attending parties and luncheons.

"We're trying to build in as many public events as we can around the convention since they will not be having a formal speech," said Susan Whitson, a spokeswoman for the twins, who declined an interview with The Associated Press. "The schedule could change, but they're not going to make a big speech the way the Kerry daughters did."

(snip)

After the confetti and balloons fall late Thursday at Madison Square Garden, the twins will head to an even later "Next Generation Party." The event, slated to end at 2 a.m. Friday, is being organized and hosted by Emily Pataki, daughter of New York Gov. Pataki; Emma Bloomberg, the daughter of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg; and Taylor Whitman, the son of Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman who is former head of the Environmental Protection Agency in the Bush administration.

Ignorant bourgeoise wastrels.

2. Biggest question the Bush twins have is.....
will there be plenty of booze at the parties? 'Cause we're not going unless there is.

If they are like their mother and father (and I think they are) they probably can't put together 5 words to form an intelligent sentence which is why they aren't speaking.

11. Don't forget the darling little girl @ 11 yrs.

She was fantastic!

Maybe she can give some public speaking tips to the twins.

For them to give a party is nothing new. They are party "girls."

Note: I am being kind and calling them girls LOL

9. They're dipshits...
It's a scary thing when a father doesn't trust his "college" educated daughters to link more than two words together to make a speech for their old man.
Babbling, ivory tower, silver spoon fed, dumb shit, drunks...Hmmm like father like daughters...
The cow flop doesn't fall far from the bovines ass.

6. These "twins" are generally an embarrassment
and remain out of the spotlight for good reason. Rather than being responsible adults and bringing a positive uplifting message to the youth of this country and the world, they have instead squandered their time as buffoons and wasters.

14. "Preen": to dress up or adorn oneself
Yes, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Only difference is their dad likes to dress up as a war hero; the twins like to dress up like royalty for glitzy fashion magazines.

why they don't join the military after all it's the right thing to do for daddy's war. I would like to see them on the front lines in Iraq. But they know they will never have to sacrifice anything for America just like daddy. They are above all that.

18. I can't believe this is the same America I grew up in.
The bush twins, and their parents, are despicable people. Shallow, unfocused, partying, no-brain duds. They are arrogant, ill-mannered, and, well... they're STUPID! They have absolutely no redeeming value when it comes to leadership of a country! Not even a TINY country!! Not even some COUNTY, in the middle of nowhere!

My head just keeps shaking "no". There are too many people in this country, still very much alive, that grew up when I did. They CAN'T be voting for this bunch of white trash!

There is something dark and insidious going on in this country, and the media is at the bottom of it all. The polls HAVE TO BE lying... and lying badly! By HUGE margins! They're preparing for another stolen election...look at the BBV news, and the disenfranchisement news.

There is A HUGE DIFFERENCE in the class of Kerry and his family, and the bush dung. What the hell is going on!????

22. It's not
Not sure why you think the Bush girls have anything to do with the governance of the country. As far as I know, they are just the daughters of the sitting President.

The Bush family as white trash ?? I don't get it. Aren't the Bushs blue blooded New Englanders, along the lines of the Kennedys, Kerrys, Rockefellers, Winthrops, etc. ?

If you see no need to explain something to me, fair enough.

As to why I am still here, well that's up to the mods and admins, I guess. Their server, their rules.

As to philosophy, I do not consider that I have one. Plato, Aristotle, Berkeley, etc. did. Me, I'm just a punter. All I know is what I read in the newspapers.

31. Thanks for the invite !
I like DU, and it is educational for me.

As to my "newspapers", I really don't subscribe to any, paper that is. I read the online versions of:

Guardian UK
Haaretz
Sydney Morning herald
Globe and Mail
NY Times
Washington Post
American Prospect
Alternet
Counterpunch
Weekly Standard
Townhall
The Nation
National Review

Probably some others I'm forgetting.

I also occasionally look at the NY Post, for old times sake. It's the oldest continuously published newspaper in the USA and was founded by Alex. Hamilton. Needless to say, there have been some changes in the intervening years ;)

Best Regards !

36. "blue blooded New Englanders"??
more like cold-blooded Texans. I believe the "summer cottage" in Kennebunkport is nothing but a prop to impress people and give that false impression that they are "New Englanders."

I can't speak for all "old money" families but many have CLASS: they think of others besides themselves, they are gracious, have consciences and respect the power that they hold.

Bushes on the other hand are tasteless nouveau riche who made their money, starting with grampa Prescott, by illegal and unconscienable war profiteering and from other people's suffering. Why don't you google the tragic story of Margie Schoedinger (try Bush rape in google) and see how this particular "blue blood" wisely and graciously uses the power that all that blood money has bestowed on him?

They are white trash because they have no class at all, just their own selfish and abusive selves to indulge while they manipulate and exploit the rest of the world while holding themselves above the law.

21. Perhaps they won't make speechs because
they are not candidates, they are not politicians. Being the daughters of the President doesn't qualify them as statesmen. I work in the IT field, that doesn't mean the company I work for should seek out the advice of my son on configuring HylaFax just because he is my son and I know how to do it.

30. The character of ones children
is directly a result of their upbringing. So Kerry's daughters reflect the intelligence and thoughtfulness of their parents while the Bush twins reflect the crassness, shallowness and intellectual sloth of their upbringing. No one is asking them for advice or to be statesmen, but simply to demonstrate ones character.

Since you are not running for public office your son has no bearing on the situation. Bad comparison.

32. Each person is an individual
I know little about the offspring of Sen. Kerry or Pres. Bush, but one thing I do know is that they are not their fathers, they are individuals, just like the rest of us. They are not simply reflections of their fathers.

If children are just reflections of their fathers, then the fact that that I am not running for office would be irrelevant regarding my son's character. My son is not a clone of me, anymore than the the daughters of Sen. Kerry or Pres. Bush are clones of them.

I am not a clone of my father and my son is not a clone of me.

35. It's a pity the Bush girls' expensive educations were so useless.
They have every right to stay out of politics. They could have just gone ahead, begun their careers & stayed out of the public eye. But, no, they'll be acting as "hostesses" at convention-related events. Too bad they couldn't be trusted to give a little talk about their fond memories of their dad; probably their memories aren't that fond.

And congratulations on not being a clone. I'd never have guessed.
