US 'made up rescue of Jessica'
US 'made up rescue of Jessica'
Daily Mail
10th July 2003

The rescue of Private Jessica Lynch was one of the most dramatic stories of the second Gulf War.

But a Pentagon report out today reveals that many of the heroics were made up. There was no bloody shoot-out with Iraqi troops, instead just "horrific injuries" suffered in a crash.

And without the medical care given to her by her captors, the blonde 20-year-old would probably have died.

The story made headlines around the world when US rescuers were filmed blazing their way into a Nasiriyah hospital before carrying her off on a stretcher.

Military sources said Private Lynch had broken bones, had been shot twice and stabbed once after emptying two revolvers into her Iraqi attackers.

Television networks were soon competing for her story, offering a book deal and a cable TV contract.

Miss Lynch, who is now recovering in a Washington army hospital, never confirmed the stories and the Pentagon claimed she was suffering from amnesia. Within weeks however the saga began to unravel. (snip/...)

2. It was on the radio this morning
that one of the big networks offered her megabucks for her story. They want to do a book, movie and MTV??? I hope she takes it because with the truth finally coming out, it'll be a big joke and none of it will play. The poor girl may as well get something for what they've done to her.

3. She must have been very badlly hurt
to STILL be in the hospital. I wonder if she is paralyzed. At the time it happened and there were contradictory reports from her doctor, the Iraqi's and her family wasn't allowed to comment, it smelled fishy. And it came at a time when the war was going badly. Does she have amnesia or was that cover so she wouldn't blow the story?

5. They don't WANT her to be well enough to leave

as long as she's "active" duty, and in their "care", she cannot tell the story..

She is separated from her family, and in a mililtary installation...just where they want her..

I knew this was crock from DAY one or two.. Remember when they interviewed the parents, and the Dad said the family had NOT been able to talk to her yet?? That was two days after she had been "rescued" and was already in Germany..

I saw footage of a soldier being triaged in the "battlefield" ...on the phone with his MOM , telling her he was ok..

There was a reason that they would not let her talk to her family..

Then a few days later, her Dad insisted that she had NOT been stabbed OR shot..

That was the last time anyone interviewd them...:(

The story of Pvt. Lynch is changing rapidly, but it's best to keep discussion consolidated within the earliest thread about the recent Pentagon report. JudiLyn, your Daily Mail link would be helpful within that thread, and I hope you post it there.

Thanks!
