Tenet blasts proposal to strip CIA of powers
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5797293/

Former CIA Director George Tenet on Monday attacked a Republican senator's proposal to reorganize the CIA, calling it "a dangerous misunderstanding of the business of intelligence."

In a statement issued to the press, Tenet said the proposal "would undermine years of effort to integrate disciplines — hard-won steps that have led to some of the most significant intelligence successes in our history. The proposal runs totally counter to the concept of the collaboration among disciplines — a concept that has proven so effective against al-Qaida and other terrorist groups since 9/11."

Bush administration officials, for their part, have reacted warily to the proposal by Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., to transfer the nation’s major intelligence gathering from the CIA and the Pentagon to control by a new director. Roberts chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee.

1. Ah yes, George Tenet. Who WOULDN'T listen to George Tenet?
I can't figure out who I hate more: Tenet or Roberts.

Hmm, prolly Roberts.

2. I think we need to listen to Tenet until we find out why they fired him
so quick. Was he just singled out to take the rap, or was there something else there that they know he won't reveal.

4. Having the Pentagon in charge of "intelligence" was the problem
in the first place. The Office of Special Plans did an end run around the CIA and hyped the line that was being put out by the neo-cons in the pentagon and the White House. Why reward them for their deadly errors? Intelligence must be kept separate from those with other agendas.

6. The Bush story is that Tenet
resigned. Tenet therefore had to say he resigned. I've never known the Bush people to tell the truth and CAN count on what Bush says to be the opposite of what actually happened, so I would guess that Tenet was fired.

7. The effort by the Congress to strip the CIA of power is a con job
to deflect from our governments role in 9-11. I think the CIA has to be squashed so the truth does not come out.

8. I'd REALLY hate to be the person who tried to "squash" the CIA....
:nuke: That wouldn't be a wise move, IMHO! :nuke:

10. When I found out that Pat Roberts
didn't discuss his proposal with Senator Rockefeller and Senator Levin, and that Senator John Warner and others Repukes are against it, I decided that this was just a phony fight to keep any of the 9/11 recommendations from passing this year. It seems to be all bullshit to me.

11. Guessing
Tenet went along with the lies that C. Powell tossed at the UN. When the lies were exposed he was told to allow the CIA to be the scapegoat, instead of placing the blame where it belonged onto Cheney and Rumsfailed, the OSP. Tenet weakly tried to deflect the scapegoating but on the day Dumbass told him to accept the blame entirely, Tenet balked and was promptly fired. He was told that he cold resign. With that deal the Neo Fascists in Congress wouldn't press charges that Tenet lied under oath before them.

With the nomination of Porter Goss, the rank and file are seething even more than before. Goss has stated that the V. Plame outing didn't rise to the level of Congressional Investigation and has dissed the CIA in numerous ways. The dismantelling is a ploy to get rid of any rank and file member that may cause problems with the Neo Fascist's accountabilty in preventing 911 Attack and bogus intell of WMDs.
