sad...I was born in Norfolk, raised in Virginia Beach...and this is the same military that's supposed to dispense justice for Abu Grihab?
VIRGINIA BEACH — Weeks after being charged with first-degree murder in the death of a fellow SEAL, a local Navy commando is out of jail on bond and back on duty.
Ronald Julius Gasper, 30, was arrested the morning of July 31 after calling 911 to say he had shot an intruder. Police found 24-year-old Bradley A. Jondahl on the floor of Gasper’s garage at 4420 Hinsdale St., in the Bayside section of the city.
Jondahl had been shot in the stomach. He died during surgery at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The same day, a magistrate denied bond for Gasper. A court form noted that Gasper had given conflicting information about whether he had known the victim. But by Aug. 12, after the court requested and received a letter from a Navy special warfare official saying Gasper would not be deployed or sent out of the area, a Beach judge allowed Gasper out of jail on $30,000 bail.
The decision surprised even the bondsman who secured Gasper’s release.
