P. Diddy Teams With MTV To Make Political Documentary
P. Diddy Teams With MTV To Make Political Documentary

POSTED: 12:02 pm EDT August 9, 2004

Sean "P. Diddy" Combs has done music, movies and Broadway -- and now he's turning his focus to politics.

The rap mogul and "A Raisin in the Sun" star is working on a documentary about politics with MTV that targets young voters.

Combs, who recently attended the Democratic National Convention in Boston, said the documentary will "speak their language" and air sometime before Election Day.

Combs said his group, Citizen Change, wants to get more young people involved in politics. He added that they can decide who the next president will be, especially with this year's presidential race being so close.

2. Man why does P. Diddy want me to like him so much?
I had totally written him off when he butchered Every Breathe You Take, oh well, I give up.

Hear that P. Diddy, you have finally earned my respect.

Thanks

5. I don't like his music, but I like his politics
and his desire to activate the younger crowd. Plus I think he's a natty dresser.

4. I saw him at the Democratic Convention in Boston
And I was able to snap a picture to prove it! That's great what he is doing and I hope it will inspire young people to get registered to vote and then vote in November.

6. If he's as successful at getting people to the voting booth
as he is at getting to buy his records and clothes, the results could be promising. His goal is getting 18-20 million young people to vote. From a recent (and meatier) BET article:

Jobs, health care and education are the key issues facing young voters, Diddy said, adding that Citizen Change will target cities in swing states throughout nation. And in true Diddy form, the mogul, with the help of several world-renowned celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, Ellen DeGeneres, 50 Cent, Leonardo Dicaprio and Jay Z will present parties in many of these key cities, where young people's votes arguably will have the biggest impact. "Trust me, none of these candidates have your vote in mind," Combs told the audience....

"There are only a few people in America who have the energy and enthusiasm to get young people to step up to the plate and get them excited and passionate about this election, and I am one of them. The revolution has begun."
