DNC Announces Bush Truth Squad
A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT

Washington, D.C. –The Democratic National Committee announced the members and the mission of the Bush Truth Squad today. The Truth Squad is comprised of members of Congress, a General, a fellow Vietnam skipper, and other experts committed to presenting Bush’s true record of misleadership and setting the record straight when John Kerry is wrongly attacked.

“George W. Bush is trying to gloss over the results of his failed economic policies, which are squeezing the middle class,” said U.S. Representative Dick Gephardt. “America deserves the truth.”

The Bush Truth Squad will hold events in the same cities President Bush holds campaign events to ensure that the truth is told about the Bush record of failed policies and misleadership. The Truth Squad will also stand at the ready to defend John Kerry’s record of strength and service and to tell the truth about the Kerry-Edwards plan to make America stronger at home and more respected in the world. ...

"Truth" implies they're going to tell any.

Hell, this is an easy job. Did Bush open his mouth? if he did then what came out isn't true.

26. That's okay. It'll be a fitting complement for the so-called "Truth Squad"
that media whores like Lisa Myers of NBC touted so aggressively (and awfully smugly, too, if you ask me) when reporting on "Fahrenheit 9/11." That's how they billboarded it. So now, we get to turn their phrase directly onto its ASS. All's fair in love, war, and republi-CON JOBS.

Smirky too. He skipped Vietnam cause it wasn't in his party schedule!

These folks need to get face time on TV. Daily.

42. How much you want to bet they WON'T
Or mayhaps, in the interest of not appearing as Soviet as they are, they will allow the Dem Truth Squad to only speak when shrieky O'Reichley Clones are stationed close by ans hrieking.

Yes, that sounds about righjt.

Afer all, Imperial Amerika is about the ILLUSION of freedom.

43. No bet
Whereas CNN had the RNC chairman on IMMEDIATELY after Kerry's speech, my guess is that to display the full spectrum of allowed thought, CNN will have both Tom DeLay and Zell Miller on to "critique" Bush's speech. That is, after 30 minutes of uninterrupted footage of the floor celebration, prominently featuring every minority face they can find, even if it's just an usher.

19. 'bout damn time!
Here's the list:

Bush Truth Squad Members
Mr. Skip Barker, fellow skipper who served in Vietnam with John Kerry
Ms. Ann Lewis, former Clinton White House Communications Director
General Merrill McPeak
Senator John Breaux
Senator Richard Durbin
Senator Dianne Feinstein
Senator Bob Graham
Senator Frank Lautenberg
Senator Debbie Stabenow
Congressman Sherrod Brown
Congressman Elijah Cummings
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro
Congressman Richard Gephardt
Congressman Mike Honda
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee
Congressman Gregory Meeks
Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald
Congressman Ciro Rodriguez
Congresswoman Hilda Solis
Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones

Not a bad list. The presence of Durbin, Lautenberg and Lee especially should be entertaining.

Sharpton, Clark and Dean aren't mentioned, but I suppose they have other specific duties inside and outside the campaign.

21. If McAuliffe isn't the first interview after *'s acceptance speech on CNN-
--- I will throw a fit.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who caught this.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/03/opinion/03krug.html

"CNN used to be different, but Campaign Desk, which is run by The Columbia Journalism Review, concluded after reviewing convention coverage that CNN "has stooped to slavish imitation of Fox's most dubious ploys and policies." Seconds after John Kerry's speech, CNN gave Ed Gillespie, the Republican Party's chairman, the opportunity to bash the candidate. Will Terry McAuliffe be given the same opportunity right after President Bush speaks?"

We should have had a truth squad following him around since 1999..He would have never been elected if his deceit and lies had been exposed back then..

Now HE's is power and it's gonna be much harder to wrest it away from him:(

25. “George W. Bush is trying to gloss over the results
of his failed economic policies, which are squeezing the middle class,”<<

Actually.... what else are they designed to do? I mean... as soon as the country starts to get ahead... get some money in the treasury... sees light at the end of the tunnel... some repub is there to feed his hogs at the trough at the expense of the American taxpayer.. the bulk of which is made up of the middle class.

Perhaps they don't want a surplus... does anyone know who holds the paper on the national debt? Does anyone know what the daily interest runs on our present debt? Does anyone feel that perhaps this is by design.... and that there are people who much like leeches... do very well when the nation is in debt up to its eyeballs.... with no end in sight?

Maybe, just maybe... his economic policies are working just the way the people who dictate them.... want them to.

36. We should try to support the Bush Truth Squad by supplying them with
all the info we gather here at DU. Some may not like the name they chose for this group, but it might hook a few pro-Bush people into going to these events. Give me 10 minutes with ANY republican (that is reasonable enough to politely listen) and I can convince them to NOT vote for Bush.

45. The truth has to include
why we went to Iraq and what other geopolitical plans are in the works. Otherwise, it will just be Dems talking about the economy while the a big portion of the American public believes the spin the economy is ok and is strenghthening and the only reason it has been rough was because of the terror attacks (and thus would have been bad under dems as well). Any me too dems on current foreign policy strategy being given the microphone will fail to convince those uninformed or leaning bush they should change their minds about bush. It's that plain and that simple.
