Internal Memo: FLORIDA knew of voter list problems
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/9292895.htm

TALLAHASSEE - Well before they abruptly discarded it, Florida election officials knew they had significant problems with a database of felons they planned to use in removing voters from the rolls.

Just a week before they directed local election chiefs to begin purging ineligible voters from the list of 48,000 convicted felons, state officials documented two years of failures and breakdowns with the $2.7 million contract with database vendor Accenture.

A May 2 internal memo, ordered personally by Secretary of State Glenda Hood, details a half dozen missed deadlines and broken promises, failed software programs, repeated miscues and personnel problems.

Two months after the memo, with newspapers including The Herald detailing major flaws with the felon database that could have disenfranchised thousands, the state reversed course and told election chiefs not to use the felon list.

The problems outlined in the five-page memo do not directly foreshadow the exact glitches that forced the state to abandon the list. But the memo makes clear that the state was hitting constant hurdles in its quest to rush out a list of voters who could be deleted from the rolls.

Critics who have closely monitored Florida's voting process say the chronology shows that the state was negligent.

''This memo is striking,'' said Howard Simon, Florida director of the American Civil Liberties Union. ``After two years of constant failures and fixes . . . they rushed this out the door.

1. These Fu*kers ought to be burned alive.

"The Herald obtained the list and, on July 2, reported that it contained more than 2,100 felons whose voting rights had been restored through the state's clemency process. Most were Democrats, and many were black.

Please aid in pressuring media, aka - email their asses off!

6. It seems too much to hope for - but one day, maybe we'll have justice
and jail terms for a whole lot of people who richly deserve them.

Hey! Then they'll be felons! LOL! Shall we withhold their voting rights in Florida?

4. my partner's mom
We have the family up for a visit this weekend. My partner's Mom (85 yrs young) sat with me for awhile yesterday to see the pics of the Scranton Kerry-Edwards rally ( http://radicalfringe.freeservers.com/photo.html )

She said "I hope he wins, he's got to win -- but I'm afraid bush* will steal the election again. bush* family is so powerful... especially in Florida..."

She lives Broward County Florida.

5. Thank God For Florida!
You could add all the legendary election-year corruption of Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana and Florida would still make us all look like Pikers!

Damn, Jebbie, do you realize what a Herculean accomplishment this is?

11. Accenture = Arthur Andersen Consulting
Accenture was spun off from Arthue Andersen in about 2000. I believe they are based offshore, in Bermuda.

Accenture also seems to be Tony Blair's puppeteer. Do a search on the BBC search engine for more info.

Florida election officals knew damn well that Hispanic is NOT a race, it's an ethnicity. The US Census Bureau does not consider Hispanic to be a race, and neither did the Florida felon list.

So, we're supposed to believe that they made the bonehead mistake of attempting to match on Hispanic. And then they made the mistake of missing the blatant fact that Miami-Dade County had far fewer potential felons than Broward or Palm Beach counties.

Of course, all of their "mistakes" would benefit Bush and other Repub candidates, just as was the case in 2000.

Note: The Miami Herald and some other Florida papers are doing a fine job. Kudos to CNN also for leading the lawsuit to get the felon purge list.

12. They knew about purge problems in 2000, too.
According to Greg Palast, the company hired to do the initial purging discovered that many legal voters were being scrubbed from the list and reported this to Katherine Harris. Incredibly, KHarris then ordered them to loosen the scrubbing criteria which resulted in even more legal Democratic voters being removed from the voter rolls. This was certainly done with foreknowledge, but KKHarris denied malicious intent (sure).

For her criminal actions, the Republican Party rewarded KKKHarris with a seat in Congress.

God, I hate that evil bitch

14. I just e-mailed the Herald thanking them for their work on this. They
have repeatedly been out front on this issue. Thankfully, some newspapers still consider themselves journalists rather than government press agents.

15. NOW with Bill Moyers did an excellent segment on those thieves....
I just watched it and it is unbelievable that they are getting away with these crimes. Harris is in Congress when she should be in an orange suit. The scariest part of the show was the end when Bill said there are four key battlground states where the current SoSs are repukes all working on the elect bush campaign as well as over seeing their states elections just like Harris in 2004. This election is going to be a train wreck... :scared:
