Clark talks like candidate, bashes Bush (And DeLay)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Wesley Clark, who once served as NATO commander and might have presidential aspirations, attacked the Bush administration Sunday for launching a war with Iraq on "false pretenses" and spreading the military too thin amid the global war on terrorism.

"You'd be taking them to the Better Business Bureau if you bought a washing machine the way we went into the war in Iraq," Clark said on CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer." snip

He said that if Iraq "is the centerpiece of the war on terror, it shouldn't be." snip

Clark also lashed out at House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, a Texas Republican.

Early in the Iraq war, Delay criticized what he called the corps of "blow-dried Napoleons" who appeared on television to analyze the progress of the coalition invasion. Clark was a CNN military analyst during the conflict but no longer works for the network.

"When our airmen were flying over Kosovo, Tom DeLay led House Republicans to vote not to support their activities -- when American troops were in combat," Clark said. "To me, that's a real indicator of a man who's motivated not by patriotism or support for the troops but by partisan political purposes."

15. Credibility of course
I'm not saying Clark is a plant, but to answer your question: a plant would have to bash Bush otherwise it would be too obvious that he was either a plant or at best spineless (see Leiberman, Joe).

2. Go Clark!
I'm a Dean supporter, but I like anyone who can go after Bush like this.

...has my undying gratitude.

President Clark, Vice President Clark, National Security Adviser Clark. Doesn't it all sound good? :loveya:

4. He did pimp slamp Bush and Delay
I am not asking anyone to abandon their select candidate (if it is someone other than Clark) I just hope that if he does throw his hat in, everyone will give him serious consideration.

5. NY POST: GEN. CLARK COY ON BID FOR PREZ
GEN. CLARK COY ON BID FOR PREZ
By DEBORAH ORIN

August 18, 2003 -- Retired Gen. Wesley Clark yesterday said he'll decide whether to become the 10th Democrat running for president "in the next two or three weeks," and revved up with a slashing attack on President Bush over Iraq.

"We went into Iraq under false pretenses . . . You call it deceptive advertising, you'd be taking to the Better Business Bureau if you bought a washing machine the way we went into the war in Iraq," the former NATO commander told CNN.

6. Today, or at least I've just noticed, CNN's news ticker saying,
'Clark says Iraq war based on false preconceptions' (paraphrase). I saw that quote posted on the DU 3 days ago.

7. Clark's neck is out
Delay will want to answer this challenge to his vile congressional empire. Oh the bugman! I fear what he will do. Clark is no gopper plant; he, like many of us here, see these shitheads for what they are: neo-con cowards. Afterall, they tried to set him up to fail before (see his book) and that was only because they wanted to get to Clinton. Expect lies...lies...and more lies. Why would any of America's best and brightest want to run for President when the junta will stop at nothing in their effort to hold on to power. Ask the Texas legislature; ask Al Gore; ask the Big Dawg or Hillary.

9. I'm a non-American putting in my 2 cents worth....I heard Clark say on CNN
a few weeks ago that he was "very concerned with how the Bush government was dealing with the rest of the world's leaders" (or words to that effect.)...He was troubled by the way Bush alienated your former allies....This was good news to me, as a Canadian...We are directly effected when the U.S.A. so much as sneezes .....Listening to Clark since he first became prominent on TV, I have been impressed with his evident concern and broad knowledge.....Sort of reminds me of Bill Clinton in his depth of knowledge.....:)

12. He has the goods to turn the sheeple away from bunnypants and co.
We can debate Clark's credebtials from a liberal progressive stance but it is the non wing nut sheeple who will believe what Clark says in opposition to bfee and decide our next president. The campaign now is like scouting draft picks for the NFL. No scouts want to include a 5'9' 295 lb. nose guard in his report to the team even if the kid is the best playmaker. So the scout touts the 6'5' 350 lb. stud with 5% body fat and 4.3 speed even though the kid is fragile and pumped up on steroids. Clark is the stud that looks good to the ignorant owner and fans of the team. So if you are a scout you put the paper stud at the top of your report and keep your physically unimpressive PLAYER down the list and hope he's available in the later rounds of the draft. That would be candidates like Dean, Sharpton, and Kucinich.
