9/11-Style Attack Predicted in Next Year
Another Sept. 11-style terrorism attack is "highly likely" in the United States, which ranks fourth in an index assessing the risk to 186 countries, a research company said Sunday.

The London-based World Markets Research Center ranked Colombia, Israel, Pakistan, the United States and the Philippines, in descending order, as the five countries most likely to be targeted in a terrorist attack in the next year, said Guy Dunn, author of the company's World Terrorism Index.

The index, to be published Monday, assesses the risk of terrorism to the countries and their interests abroad, he said. The country least likely to be attacked by terrorists is North Korea, Dunn said.

The assessments used five criteria: motivation of terrorists, the presence of terror groups, the scale and frequency of past attacks, efficacy of the groups in carrying out attacks and how many attacks were thwarted by the country.

enough already!! :argh: :puke:

1. Well, I guess that means
that Bush's vaunted Homeland Security Department will be a miserable failure and that Ashcroft is correct. The surest way to make the country safe against terrorist attacks is to create a totalitarian state with total control over the populace at large and a complete abrogation of freedom. Doesn't this "study" make you feel great?

5. When I read about the "sting" regarding the missiles and Lakhani

my first reaction (and I can not substantiate it) was that it was a coverup. My second gut reaction was that it had something to do with potentially another attack on American Soil. Pure intuition, paranoia perhaps, but there was something about it that struck me as foreshadowing. I actually expect it, or should I say it wouldn't surprise me another attack.

2. Of course it will!
Amazing how Al-Qaida just plays into the hands of the RNC and the PNAC players, isn't it?

If I didn't know better, I'd say there was some quid pro quo involved.

Here's a way to test the theory....vote Democrat in 2004 and see if we have any more terrorist attacks.

4. Yep...
... I'm sure this next attack will be scheduled around the time of the 2004 elections, say Sept or Oct of 2004. Either that or another invasion of some country deemed an "imminent threat". With all the sword waving in the direction of Iran, Syria and North Korea, the stage has already been set. The full tragedy of the Bushreich has only begun to unfold.

Now we'll have no more talk about a tanking economy and rising unemployment, okay?

Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.

3. Probably a some point before the election so Bush can
look good going after al Quada again. Invade another country, then cancel the election because of the war on terror.

12. I hope that it's not engineered as an "October Surprise".
Given who's in charge, however....

6. Why is it that if this happens
bush and the morons who are supposedly in charge will not be held accountable?????? They have had almost two years to do something about this and have done nothing that actually makes us safer. Why is this country populated by so many fucking idiots????????? Why can't people see what a scam this administration is?

It makes me sick that another attack will just make the criminals in the bush admin. even more popular and powerful. I'd almost say this country deserves all the shit that happens to it, except there are millions who see through this. But for some reason, it's the stupid half of the country that is calling the shots.

7. I have no doubt
Edited on Mon Aug-18-03 09:58 AM by Magic Rat
Just hearing the stories about the RPG's and shoulder-fired missles has me almost certain an attack is likely.

And for my money, I bet a plane will be shot out of the sky, probably near a major NY airport.

My guess is JFK, becuase the Belt Parkway runs right underneath the flight path for planes arriving. All a terrorist would have to do is park the car by the side of the road like he had just broken down, get out and aim, and unless he was a horrible shot, would hit the plane easily.

From where I travel those planes coming in aren't any more than 100 feet over the parkway.

Scary stuff to think about. :scared:

10. Seems obvious
Something is in the works. A few more blackouts and a few more terrorists and Whalla, 4 more years of BFEE. Wish there was an easier way out. Even voting against them doesn't appear to work.

13. Why do people here think an attack will benefit *?
After all his bluster about securing the homeland and making the world safe for democracy by attacking Iraq, I think people will want to toss his worthless ass out if we're hit again. I seriously doubt that he will benefit, especially if it's an attack of 9-11 proportions. He will have no scapegoat, no political out. The attack will be seen as his failure, not someone else's. And he will not survive the next election.

power, because I don't put anything past these Ivy League Mafia.
