Zim's Moyo accuses 'coward Howard' of racism

Zimbabwean officials have accused Australian Prime Minister John Howard of racism towards black nations in the Commonwealth.

The comments followed Howard's sharp criticism on Friday of Zimbabwe's political and human rights record.

He described embattled President Robert Mugabe as an "unelected despot" and called on the Commonwealth not to lift Zimbabwe's suspension from its decision-making councils.

Zimbabwean Information Minister Jonathan Moyo said Howard and British Prime Minister Tony Blair "have stood out as racists who want to divide the world on racial lines" and sought to protect white interests in Commonwealth countries.
