Case against conscientious objector stands
http://www.advocate.com/new_news.asp?ID=9592&sd=08/15/03

A judge declined on Thursday to throw out the Marine Corps' case against an openly gay conscientious objector who claims he is being court-martialed because he publicly criticized the war in Iraq. Navy judge John A. Maksym also denied Lance Cpl. Stephen Funk's lawyer access to Marine files on who else may have been absent without leave, or AWOL, and how they were punished.

1. He's a Marine, AND a Conscientious Objector?
How is that possible?

4. You'd be surpised...
Of all the former servicemen I know, most oppose the war. These men and women are trained professionals, not hit men, and they don't appreciate the bullshit party line cranked out by the CNC while the troop on the ground are dying.

5. Got that right.
I have noticed no appreciable shirking, etc. from US forces in Afghanistan, Yemen, etc., where one can do some serious warrioring against REAL enemies of our country. It's this absurdity in Iraq that causes one to reconsider just what one is fighting for, etc.

"Presidential-level misjudgement"* can lead to serious blowback, from wherever.
