(San Diego, CA) -- Some local military units are now under new leadership. Navy Captain Christopher Lindsay has taken charge of the Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado to replace Captain Rick Smethers who retired. Colonel Michael Chesney is now heading up the Army Reserve's 1394th Deployment Support Brigade, headquartered at Camp Pendleton, after the retirement of Colonel Rick Powell. Coast Guard Commander Mark Ogle is now in charge of the Pacific Tactical Law Enforcement Team at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Ogle replaces Commander Pat DeQuattro who is returning to Washington as a congressional fellow in the House of Representatives.

Seems alot of Military Commanders are retiring here in San Diego.

1. Is there a purge going on? Calling Hawker Hurricane for comment.
Awful lot of COs going at the same time. Curious. Is Hawker Hurricane around to lend some insight on this?

2. Normal rotation is after two years for commanders
With all the military units in San Diego, this is a small number.

3. There has been a large number...
of navy CO's 'Relieved for Cause' recently. DUI's, running your sub aground, stupid stuff that anybody of that rank should know better... Perhaps it's stress.

But there are always CO's transfering in SanDog. With a hundred ships and shore commands (call it 200 commands, counting the Marines), two year tours, and the 'habit' of holding Change of Commands on Fridays in mid month (I think it's a pay thing), and you should see 3-4 changeovers every midmonth.
