White House 'Lied About Saddam Threat'
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,995188,00.html

snip

This was the first time an administration official
has put his name to specific claims. The
whistleblower, Gregory Thielmann, served as a
director in the state department's bureau of
intelligence until his retirement in September, and
had access to the classified reports which formed
the basis for the US case against Saddam, spelled
out by President Bush and his aides.

Mr Thielmannn said yesterday: "I believe the Bush
administration did not provide an accurate picture
to the American people of the military threat
posed by Iraq."

He conceded that part of the problem lay with US
intelligence, but added: "Most of it lies with the
way senior officials misused the information they
were provided."

As Democrats demanded a congressional enquiry,
the administration sharply changed tack. The
defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, told the
Senate the US had not gone to war against Iraq
because of fresh evidence of weapons of mass
destruction but because Washington saw what
evidence there was prior to 2001 "in a dramatic
new light" after September 11.

1. Thielmannn was on GMA this morning.
Diane Sawyer asked him flat-out if he thought that this was done deliberately and if so by whom. Thielmannn said that yes, he thought it was a deliberate deception on behalf of the President and some of his cabinet members. It was amazing! Then that whore Sawyer said something like I think in fairness I need to ask you if you supported this war. Thielmannn said that no he hadn't. She also said, "Wow, those are some pretty strong statements." or something to that effect. I went to the abcnews website and of course, couldn't find anything.

Thank you, Mr. Thielmannn for being a great American patriot!

3. Drips turning to trickles....
The fact he was even on GMA is astounding. 6 months ago there was NO dissenting view offered on ANY show (this side of Moyers and 1/2 of Crossfire).
I didn't see it, but was told that Katie Couric (Today show) was interviewing the mother of a dead GI. The mother hadn't said anything negative about Chimpy at that point, and Katie said "They tell me that you won't even refer to President Bush as "president". Is that true?" (Paraphrase, but close) The mother then said yes and explained her anger with this misadministration.
My point is we're seeing more and more mainstream 'dissent' to the Mighty Wurlitzer. Is it because the Corporate powers-that-be have decided that Shrub is bad for business? Or maybe that just can't keep propping him up in the face of the truth?
I don't know, but I'm feeling pretty good about the shifting momentum...

4. If military turns on Dubya, his goose is cooked.
This is the sleeper issue that Rove hasn't taken into account. The Drip, drip, drip of daily casualities in Iraq combined with mounting evidence that the threat to the U.S. from Saddam was way over blown could turn the military and their families against the Shrub. If that happens his goose is cooked. I love the way Rummy tried to downplay the attacks on our troops in Iraq. He stated that the attacks are mostly in Bagdad and in "corridors" stretching out in directions - LOL, he never said how long or wide the "corridors" are - that could be 3/4 of the whole country. And don't most of the people live in Bagdad?
