Turkey Recalls Top Diplomats in Israel
JERUSALEM - Turkey has recalled two senior diplomats from Israel, just days after Ankara's foreign minister hinted it might make such a move to protest Israeli actions in the West Bank and Gaza.

Both countries Tuesday played down the recall — a common diplomatic maneuver nations use to scold each other — despite recent tensions between the two Mideast allies.

Turkey is one of Israel's few friends in the Muslim world and the two have close economic and military ties. But relations have been strained in recent weeks, especially following an Israeli offensive into Gaza that killed more than 40 Palestinians.

Last week, Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan compared Israel's actions against Palestinians to the treatment of Jews during the Spanish Inquisition.

2. This is an interesting statement -
"Last week, Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan compared Israel's actions against Palestinians to the treatment of Jews during the Spanish Inquisition."

Someone is speaking up in a dramatic way, but without a threat in the typical terrorist manner. It is pure stern diplomacy, but not a curse of death.

Al Queda should try some diplomacy.

Give us some hope for the world and take the wind out of the sails of those in our country who manipulate using fear fear and make money off of war.

The whole weight of the decision lies solely on you

or War.

Willy

I give you my solemn word for this. I put all my trust in

for the welfare of our countries and for the peace of
Europe.

4. Further Information
From a different viewer.

But Ankara has condemned Israel's recent incursion into the Gaza strip and blasted the policy of assassinating Palestinian leaders.
The row comes just as the United States has invited Mr Erdogan to this week's G8 summit, where President George W. Bush is expected to unveil his latest Middle East peace plan.
Middle East specialist Soli Ozel of Istanbul's Bilgi University says the attack is more than political rhetoric:

"It's pretty significant in that they were not off-the-cuff remarks. The issue of Israel, given the AKP base, is a very fragile and sensitive issue for them. If Israel's tense relations with the region continue, it will be more and more difficult perhaps to keep the relationship intact."

Makes one wonder if Iraqi Kurds are a bargaining point.
