Aug. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Many New York businesses, including Broadway theatres and the Jacob Javits Convention Center, have no plans to alter their routine programs this Sept. 11, the second anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Crain's New York Business reported.
That's a change from last year, when companies and events shut down for the day or held ceremonies to honor those who died when the twin towers were hit by hijacked airplanes, the paper said. By this time in 2002, media outlets had already started anniversary coverage and some advertisers had pulled their messages for the anniversary day, Crain's said.
The mayor's office hasn't yet released a schedule for Sept. 11. NYU Downtown hospital, three blocks from Ground Zero, plans to have a moment of silence instead of repeating the memorial service it held on the first anniversary.
