Experts: Job market dismal for teens this summer
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/business/2600284

DALLAS -- Older workers, including recent college graduates and unemployed professionals, are making the job market tough for teens this summer, studies show.

Only 37 percent of teens are likely to find a summer job, according to the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University in Boston.

Online job board Monster.com also released an outlook of summer jobs for teens and reached a similar conclusion.

"We've found it's a fairly dismal summer for students, and part of that is because jobs have declined as out-of-work professionals and college grads look for summer jobs while they're looking for something else," said Michelle Forker, senior vice president of Monster Campus.

5. No, no! There are TONS of jobs!
Zillions of them! Just reach out and grab one! The bu$h economy is the greatest ever! Over 300,000 new jobs in one month! That's what the nice man behind the curtain tells me, so it MUST be true! Right?

Right??

3. My town is a perfect example
small town, only makes money in the summer. Tourists. Large development corporations moved in, urban sprawl. Wal Mart supercenter took over, destroyed small businesses, family owned.
People work for 5-6 bucks an hour here in the summer for the very very wealthy, who in turn buy up the poor and middle class homes as second "vacation" homes and the tax bracket goes up up up for the poor, and the middle class, and they have to move out.
Im moving out, cannot afford it anymore.
Putting the acreage up for sale, have 3 acres on the market now.
Unbelievable, and everyone I know is barely scraping by. The middle class is almost non existent, every woman I know tells me husband now laid off from whatever manufacturing jobs might have existed, nuclear plant here just laid off tons of workers, hired cheap labour, and the laid off workers are working flipping burgers.
Health care is the only field I can get into.
In the meantime, kids moving back to help out, and god only knows where they will find a job, and they have to pay me rent.
Relatives in Indiana, no jobs. Not a job to be found, cept for flipping burgers. My sister lost her 35,000 yr job, 6 kids, lost 5 kids to her husband, she is a waitress now.
Even my mother has to sell her bedroom set for monies to buy medicine.
She is 77.
Every cent eaten up.
City is in the red, made the mistake of allowing developers to move in, cheap tax base for them, but wants the middle class to pay for making it up
No jobs=less income so people are either losing their homes, or leaving
Im leaving while I still have savings
strike while the iron is hot, I say.
I see major inflation on the horizon
How long did it take Clinton to bring back the economy? a few years??
Its going to take Kerry longer
Every time we have a GOP asshole president this happens
Raygun did the same damned thing
This is even worse.
And when Michael comes home from Iraq, I just wonder if he will even be able to get a job at all
Bush has got to go. Hes killing people right and left.
Mexico looks better and better.

4. Your Life Is Emblematic of The Ultimate Neo-Con Plan
Government of the powerful, by the powerful, and for the powerful. Middle class folks like yourself are inconvenient to their plans, and they must be done away with. If you're not rich, then you're nothing to these people. You don't even exist.

It's a shame that there are a lot of people in your situation look at politics either through the prism of their religious beliefs or through the prism of their prejudicies. So, instead of voting for their primary economic interests, they vote based on abortion, gun control, school prayer, Gay marriage, or racism.
