Al-Qaeda vows to "cleanse" Arabian Peninsula of infidels: website

23 minutes ago Add Mideast - AFP to My Yahoo!

DUBAI (AFP) - A statement claiming to speak in the name of the terror group Al-Qaeda and carried on an Islamist website vowed to "cleanse the Arabian Peninsula of infidels".

It was posted on the website in the wake of weekend carnage in which at least 19 people were killed in attacks, claimed by Al-Qaeda, and hostage-taking in the Saudi oil city of Al-Khobar.

"We renew our determination to repel the crusader forces and their arrogance, to liberate the land of Muslims, to apply sharia (Islamic law) and cleanse the Arabian Peninsula of infidels," said the message on the website http//alsaha.fares.net.

The authenticity of the statement could not be verified.

1. What are we doing over there anyway???

Frankly, I don't blame them for feeling this way. We have no business over there. We ought to be putting our workforce on task to create alternative fuels and tell the middle east to find its merry way to happiness quite without us. I'm sure they'd be happy with that too.

9. I agree with you!
It's their country, and if they don't want outsiders (infidels) there we must leave. I hope we don't force ourselves on them by another invasion.

It will take time to create alternative fuels. Until then I guess we could be forced to take the bus and leave our cars at home! Actually, if the radicals take over, they also need to sell oil, so we just deal with them!

10. So, you're a fan of medieval theocracies?
Perhaps Spain should follow suit, and expel all the Muslims and Jews.

11. He thinks we should stop propping them up.
Like we prop up the Saudis. Mind your own business, see?

2. Bush's crusade
has given strength to extremist groups like al Qaeda. Don't for an instant think that these people represent the majority of Muslims. These Wahhabists persecute other Islamic sects, and are interested only in instituting their version of Islam, which I feel is an abboration of the Message.

4. The same as funie 'christian' zealots don't reflect most christians
but they're the ones who make the most noise and have hopes of dominionism and a return to some twisted form of biblical times, where all of us free-thinkers are either executed or imprisoned and tortured, in order to clease our souls.

So what we wind up with is two extremist groups making the world a miserable place for evertyone. :-(

6. It seems like religion, like patriotism, is for the poor.
Because the Saudi royal family males certainly don't follow the rules they impose on their society.

What is it about human nature that begs to be dominated by a figurehead so that family regimes like the Fauds and the Bushes can sustain their power...

3. This was Osama's plan all along....
the toppling of the "royal" Saud family. The destruction of the
world's oil supply...
Hmmm...and an excellent excuse for the US to invade Saudi Arabia...
the TRUE neocon goal... :eyes: Everything is going according to
PNAC plans.

5. Did Her Majesty
authorise that message?

It does rather seem that those "Islamist websites" are operated by companies that bear HER Royal Arms.

8. Isn't Bush pledging the same thing?
Changing "infidels" to "terrorists" and "shariah" to "democracy and freedom" (Bush-style)?
