Terry Nichols found guilty
Edited on Wed May-26-04 02:54 PM by belladonna
Just saw it on Court TV... no link as of now

McALESTER, Okla. - Nearly a decade after the Oklahoma City bombing, Terry Nichols was convicted of 161 state murder charges Wednesday for helping carry out what was then the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil. He could get the death sentence he escaped when he was convicted in federal court in the 1990s.

Jurors were being asked to consider two starkly different versions of Nichols’ role in the Oklahoma City bombing. The defense says he was manipulated, while prosecutors describe a mastermind.

13. So do the freeptards
It validates their boogey man Islmaic terrorist fetish. I wouldn't be shocked if someone else was involved (another American) but I'm not buying the tin foil hat Iraq thing for a second.

That theory was floated by McVeigh's defense attorney, Stephen Jones, who had an obvious motive to pin the blame on someone else other than his CLIENT. Duh! The extreme right wingers love the theory too probably because they can't come to grips with the fact one of their own did what he did.

15. I don't even buy that theory
I've read both the book by Stephen Jones and two journalists from Buffalo, NY entitled "American Terrorist" and find their account far more believable because the facts are laid out and presented clearly and they have no agenda in promoting one theory over another like Jones, who was McVeigh's attorney.

McVeigh and Nichols are products of this country. At some point we as a country we need to start accepting responsibility for the bad apples we produce. What scares me is there's probably a McVeigh coming home from this current fiasco in Iraq.

16. I have not read American Terrorist but may still do so. There...
...has been so much new evidence since that book was written that I may not. One of the AP writers covering the trial is supposed to write a book and I think Jayna Davis will also.

19. Right, why are all terrorist Brown?

Nichols is a terrorist, pure and simple. So is McVeight.
Why didn't we stop/ARREST every person that looked like them and kill all of their family members?

Let's call a spade a spade and let's call Nichols and McVeight TERRORIST!

3. It is not surprising but...
is this a waste of money and money, let alone the suvivors had to relive the event again. He is in prison for life without any hope for parole. To me this is enough. Killing him won't bring back those who were killed on the terrible morning.

4. I agree 100%
What good did this do anyone? He's in prison for life, no possiblity of parole. We're going to kill him now and that's going to make it okay how?

7. Some of those affected want him dead. Hopefully the evidence...
...gathered will lead to a probe exploring who else was involved. Maybe Nichols will talk if it turns out he will be facing the needle.

8. Actually the person who had the information is dead...
that would be McVeigh. I don't think his facing the needle made any difference at all concerning who else might have been involved. Your argument doesn't hold water. I think Nichols does not having anything else of significance concerning the bombing and who was involved or he would have spoken sooner. From my understanding of Nichols is he does not want to be a martyr.

...would have talked by now. I hope there will still be an investigation into the missing tapes.

10. The sad thing about this whole case
is there are people who where involved and they have not been brought to justice. The FBI and the justice department has not done a good job on this case, from the beginning. That goes over two administrations.

...still walking around out there somewhere...and they know how to make bombs.

his mail order bride, on the stand, confessed that she and McVeigh carried on an affair in his own house.
