1. Michael Eisner can't do anything right
Hopefully, he'll get tossed when they lose their asses from the movie revenues and from the boycott.

Why doesn't the great Eisner go after Jebbie for this property tax extortion scheme?

2. Like the woman said
its a free country and they can do what they want. But so can we. Too bad Disney, when hundreds of thousands of Liberals boycott your shit and that film makes millions of dollars, you are going to look like fools. hahahahha.

4. Dreamworks SKG
I'm sure Katzenberg is loving this. Eisner drove Katzenberg out of Disney, but who has the last laugh? Not only is Dreamworks raking in the money from Shrek 2 (the "Disney killer"), but Disney has given up on the massive, guaranteed profits from Moore's film.

Eisner was already on thin ice with the shareholders; he's going to be crucified before the year is through.

I go out of my way to avoid buying anything Disney in the first place.

Hopefully Eisner will get the boot soon and then Disney can to return to a normal existance.

6. Between a political rock and a financial hard place!!
Disney weighs the financial boycott from liberals with the tax breaks offered by Jeb Bush...

Disney spokeswoman Zenia Mucha says its a free country and Disney can chose not to show Moore's film.

Yes, and the power of Jeb Bush, brother to the target of this great movie, ala 'the Disney tax credits for its theme park', certainly must outweigh the financial loss of liberal's boycott.
My question is this:
As popular as this movie was at Cannes, will Florida's Disney Theme Park be the only place of concern? Or Is there a global boycott on the horizon.
Foreigners despise G Bush even more than this divided America.

This shoudl be interesting.

8. The REAL reason Disney won't distribute F-9/11
The publicly stated reason for Disney not releasing the movie is because Eisner is afraid he'll lose the tax breaks he gets from the state of Florida (Governor Jeb Bush) regarding the Disney properties their.

But the real concern, which has only been reported by Amy Goodman on her Democracy Now program, is the economic viability of Euro-Disney. Euro-Disney is not doing well and has not done well. In fact, it has done so poorly that in the past Euro-Disney was given a massive helping hand (influx of cash) by the Bush family friends known as the Saudi Royal Family

Wouldn't want to upset a potential bailout by distributing a movie that points a finger at your funders, now would you?

Find the Disney products and boycott them and stick to it. I'm sure this is what the Bible means as a path to Heaven and NOT following the hate teachings of Falwell, Robertson, Gramham who spread the word of hate.

Such a little sacrifice for your country!

28. Either that, or...
Disney Euro's financial straits and backing by the Saudis is the real issue. I wouldn't trust a word coming out of Eisner's mouth any more than I'd trust a word coming out of Dubya's, Dickie's, Condi's, Rummy's, or Wolfie's mouths.

And I have a child on the way. And I look forward to bringing my young boy to Disneyland/Disneyworld someday. But *NOT* until Roy Disney wins his battle against Eisner, and Eisner and his cronies are long gone.

If the tax break stuff is true, that would mean much more in losses than the $120+ million could recoup.

17. full disclosure- I work for the Mouse
and yes, they are astonishingly socially liberal in regards to thier employees. Personally, I think that not distributing the film is a poor choice, but I am glad that they're not taking the position we have heard so often from so many censors in the last couple years:

"it is inappropriate to air Nightline/Doonesbury/a school kid's poem/etc. at a time when we must all be suppoprting our fearless leader blah blah blah go bush blah blah time of war etc."

By NOT taking that route, and instead leaking that it's about Jeb and tax breaks, Disney has at least helped illustrate how fucked up the BFEE is and how everyone KNOWS that vindictive actions are the likely result.

What they are certainly not saying is "we at Disney support the Bush administration". They've made it clear that it isn't that.

Small consolation.

26. Me too-going on 15 years now
most of the people on the creative end of things in this company are liberal. Eisner and his cronies, though, are a breed apart. His instincts for the past several years have all been horribly wrong-he seems to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at every turn. Who pays the price? The creative people and hourly workers, of course-and those are the people who will suffer from this boycott. Go to Roy Disney's site: www.savedisney.com to learn more about the effort to unseat Eisner.

I have to say when I see pictures of Michael Moore I practically get teary-eyed over how much he has done to bring our voice back. He was there with Stupid White Men before Howard Dean, before Crossfire, before the lefty websites really got started.

24. Disney is out of the picture now
Honestly, I don't think boycotting Disney is really appropriate at this point. Eisner told Harvey Weinstien over a year ago that Disney wouldn't distribute it, but Weinstien provided $6 million of Miramax's money (which is ultimately Disney's money) for F 9/11 to get completed as quickly as possible. Harvey said he thought he could change Eisners mind. Well, he didn't and Eisner let Weinstien buy the distribution rights back from Disney with $6 million of his own money. Now Harvey's free to strike a distribution deal with anyone he wants (who knows, maybe Dreamworks).

If Eisner REALLY wanted to screw them over, he could have held out for the whole thing to go through arbitration, which would have taken months and F 9/11 might not have been released in the US until after the election, or too late to make a difference.

With F 9/11 winning the Palme D'Or at Cannes, distributors will be lined up to make a deal. There's no reason it can't be released the July 4th weekend, as originally planned.

25. No, Disney's NOT out of the picture. The latest:
From the NY Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/25/movies/25MOOR.html

LOS ANGELES, May 24 — Tense relations between Disney and Miramax are complicating a deal to find a distributor for Michael Moore's anti-Bush documentary movie "Fahrenheit 9/11," which is still without American representation two days after winning the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival.
