Top commander in US to be replaced: report (Shanchez)
Edited on Mon May-24-04 08:05 PM by spotbird
The Pentagon is considering replacing Army Lieutenant-General Ricardo Sanchez as the top US military officer in Iraq, defence officials said today, but denied the Abu Ghraib Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal was the reason.

A senior defence official said Sanchez has served in Iraq for 13 months and that army and marine corps division commanders all have rotated out of the country during that time period.

Asked if the prisoner abuse scandal, which took place on Sanchez's watch, was the reason for considering a replacement for the general, the official said, "Absolutely not."

1. Uh, yeah, right
And it has nothing to do with the fact that people are now saying he was actually THERE when some of the abuse was happening?

2. They are pathological liars. Sanchez is going down because they
know it went right up to him and beyond. Cover their butts.

3. For a second there
I thought "top commander" was referring to the Commander In Chief. One can dream.

4. Sanchez is not top commander in U.S.
You might want to change the heading.

The Chairman Of the Joint Chiefs is top person in U.S.
